The Mountain Ranger Battalion is part of the Army ROTC program. It is situated primarily with the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, University of Pueblo, and other Universities of note in the Springs area. Classes are taught at the University of Colorado Springs and the University of Pueblo. While this is an open forum, comments posted by users do not represent the Mountain Ranger Battalion

🌟 Commissioning Cadet of the Week: Tyler Emery 🌟
Join us in celebrating Cadet Tyler Emery as he commissions from the Mountain Ranger Battalion! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ
πŸ“ The Journey:
Born in Irvine, California, Tyler’s military journey began in February 2014 when he enlisted in the United States Army as an Infantryman (11B). After a distinguished enlisted career, his leadership and potential were recognized when he was selected for the Army’s highly competitive Green to Gold Active-Duty Option (ADO) program. 🌏
βš”οΈ Experience & Service:
Cadet Emery brings a wealth of elite operational experience to the officer corps. He served as a rifleman and squad leader with the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, deploying to Kuwait in 2015. A graduate of Ranger School, he earned the coveted Ranger Tab and competed in the 34th David E. Grange Jr. Best Ranger Competition. His service continued with the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, including a deployment to Afghanistan as a Squad Leader. Tyler was later selected to establish the 4ID Pre-Ranger Program and served as an Operations Advisor in the 4th SFAB, deploying twice to North Macedonia to bolster NATO capabilities. πŸ›‘οΈ
πŸ“š Academic Excellence:
Throughout his transition from the NCO ranks to the officer corps, Tyler has maintained a standard of excellence. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and was recognized as a Distinguished Military Graduate, proving his dedication to both his studies and his profession. πŸŽ“
πŸ₯Ύ The Next Chapter:
Cadet Emery will commission as a Finance Officer! Following graduation, he will attend the Finance Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC) at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, before reporting to his first duty station as an officer at Fort Hood, Texas. He is joined on this journey by his wife, Alissa, and their three children, Amelia, Nash, and Dax. πŸ“‹

πŸ“ The Journey:
Born in Vietnam, Khiem immigrated to Houston, Texas, in 2011 and earned his United States citizenship in 2017. His military journey began in 2021 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Specialist. Driven by a commitment to service and leadership, he was later selected for the highly competitive Green to Gold Active-Duty Option program. 🌏
βš”οΈ Experience & Service:
Cadet Hinh brings significant operational experience to the officer corps. He previously served with the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado, and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. During his deployment, he served as a Battalion CBRN Noncommissioned Officer in Charge, demonstrating the leadership potential that paved his way to the Green to Gold program. πŸ›‘οΈ
πŸ“š Academic Excellence:
While navigating the transition from enlisted to officer, Khiem demonstrated exceptional dedication at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. In May 2026, he will be graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration, as he successfully balances his military responsibilities with his academic pursuits. πŸŽ“
πŸ₯Ύ The Next Chapter:
Cadet Hinh has commissioned into the Adjutant General (AG) Corps! Following graduation, he will attend the AG Basic Officer Leader Course (BOLC) at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, before reporting to his first duty station as an officer at Fort Cavazos, Texas. He is accompanied on this next chapter by his wife, Thi Yen Chi La, and their child, Kai Hinh. πŸ“‹
