Speaking the truth and prioritizing service over politics -- regardless of political affiliation -- will always be part of my work to serve the community. The political dialogue this campaign served as a vehicle for will continue.

Wow. What a El Paso County Democratic Party County Assembly! It was brutal to go over time by several hours, and so I am very grateful to all of my delegates for their support!
While these results are disappointing, my team did suspect our campaign would be too progressive for this group of just 106 EPCO Dems.
Food for thought: CC5 alone is 47,654 unaffiliated voters and only 18,091 Dems.

Happy International Women's Day! ✊🏼
Our client Jax was walking her bicycle in a 2021 housing march when she saw Colorado Springs police tackle a Chinook Center leader. Another officer in riot gear ran towards her. She dropped her bicycle, and the officer — untouched — continued towards the protesters.
Law enforcement went on to obtain warrants to arrest Jax for allegedly attempting to assault an officer by dropping her bicycle; these charges were later dropped. They also searched her home and seized all of her digital devices, as well as the page of the Chinook Center. The overbroad searches of the devices included keywords like “cop,” “protest,” “human,” and “rights.”
Now, a federal appeals court has affirmed what we've always known: these “wide-ranging exploratory searches” were unconstitutional. Colorado Springs and its officers must now face accountability in further court proceedings.

It was never a question that our campaign would go the caucus and assembly route to be on the El Paso County Democratic Party primary ballot, instead of gathering signatures.
Engaging at caucus and assembly is living our values as a grassroots campaign seeking to build community through our work. The act of gathering and collaborating with your Dem neighbors in the name of democracy matters.
So, tonight was great at Russell and Galileo middle schools!
We were also surprised to learn a governor candidate is skipping caucus and assembly entirely.
Onward! ✊🏼

No days off this weekend because Caucus is next week!
Thanks to 50501 Colorado Springs & Indivisible Colorado Springs for their work to gather voters to meet candidates at Penrose library yesterday!
Let me be clear:
Not all Democrats are the same.
When we talk about records, I'm proud to be the only candidate in the CC5 race with a record of delivering victory for our democracy and Civil Rights being represented by ACLU of Colorado in the case Armendariz v. City of Colorado Springs.
The differences in this race are clear, including the fact that I'm the only candidate speaking this truth:

The lived experience of being targeted by local & federal police for standing up for what's right is a huge part of why I'm running for office today. ...
From the press release:
"I've held hope for accountability in my heart every day since we filed this case more than two years ago. This decision reaffirms that police must be held accountable for violating my civil rights. ... No one could've anticipated just how much this case has been a terrible foreshadowing of our political circumstances today. The continued need to fight to protect our civil rights, and our democracy is painfully apparent. I am proud to stand with the ACLU of Colorado and my Colorado Springs community as this journey continues."
These kinds of overbroad and politically motivated searches are a clear violation of our constitutional rights.
They should never have happened.

Super excited to be drawn as the first candidate to speak in the CC5 race at this year's El Paso County Democratic Party Assembly on Sat., March 14!
The journey continues. I'm ready to meet the moment in standing against fascism, fighting economic inequity and pursuing smart growth that works for EP County.
