SOUTH CAROLINA FILM COMMISSION SUPPORTS "BOUND" THROUGH USC’s ‘GET ON SET’ INITIATIVE

Grant will provide USC students with hands-on workforce development opportunities on an upcoming YA thriller set in South Carolina this winter.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Film Commission is supporting the production of BOUND, an independent YA thriller, through a grant to the University of South Carolina’s ‘Get On Set’ initiative, continuing the state’s commitment to developing South Carolina’s film workforce through hands-on production experience.

The project will be produced by Dustin Whitehead, Executive Producer and ‘Get On Set’ initiative lead, who serves as Associate Professor of Film and Media Performance and Associate Chair for Theatre at the University of South Carolina.

South Carolina filmmaker, co-writer and producer Stephanie Perry Moore, of Perry Moore Entertainment, is the author of more than 80 books for young people and serves as Executive Director of Educational Programs for the Beamer Family Foundation.

Internationally acclaimed director Dr. Brandon M. Glover, of Out Da Barnz Entertainment, will direct BOUND. Glover is also an adjunct professor in the University of South Carolina’s College of Arts and Sciences, where he teaches Cinema Arts.

‘Get On Set,’ a partnership among the South Carolina Film Commission, USC and Local Cinema Studios, places students and emerging filmmakers alongside experienced industry professionals on professional productions, providing real-world training while helping strengthen South Carolina’s film crew base.

Previously selected for the South Carolina Film Commission’s LONG LENS production entrepreneurship program, BOUND follows a celebrated high school athlete whose state championship victory takes a dark turn when a mysterious message lures him to a desolate lake house, forcing him to confront a deadly secret tied to his past.

Beyond its thriller storyline, BOUND brings awareness to serious real-world issues affecting young people in South Carolina and communities around the world, using entertainment as a vehicle for conversation and impact.

BOUND is slated to film in Blythewood, SC, this winter, with USC students gaining hands-on opportunities across the production.

“This is exactly the kind of work the ‘Get On Set’ initiative was created for—bringing South Carolina filmmakers, educators, students and industry professionals together to create meaningful projects while building the next generation of the state’s film workforce.”
— Matt Storm, Director, South Carolina Film Commission
