Some places are better when you don’t rush through them.

Savannah Rapids Park gives you plenty of reasons to slow down for a while. You can bike or walk the Augusta Canal Trail, take in the Reed Creek waterfall, float along the canal toward Lake Olmstead, or find a shady spot for a picnic.

There’s history here, too. The canal headgates and historic buildings date back to the 1880s, while the Lockkeeper’s Cottage now serves as a visitor center overlooking the canal.

And if you’re staying in Augusta for work or an extended stay, it’s nice having a place like this less than 30 minutes from downtown when you want a change of pace.

Some of the best work is measured by what it makes easier for someone else.

A question answered before it becomes a problem. A detail handled without making someone chase it down. A little patience when someone is already dealing with a lot.

Service can be simple. It can look like listening carefully, following through, and treating people like they matter, even in the small interactions that no one else sees.

You never really know which version of you people will remember.

The coworker who made a stressful day a little easier.
The person who took the extra minute to explain something.
The teammate who noticed a problem before it became a bigger one.
The person who simply treated people well when nobody was keeping score.

We spend so much time thinking about what we need to accomplish that it’s easy to overlook the effect we have while doing it.

The work matters. But so does the way we do it, and the difference that leaves behind.
