🛶 A new piece of Susquehanna history is now on display at Columbia Crossing!

In 2023, Noah Platts completed his Eagle Scout project: a dugout canoe inspired by the Native peoples who have long called the Susquehanna River home!

The canoe recently came to Columbia Crossing, where Chad Brenner of Classic Restorations and local volunteer Will Williamson helped with the finishing work to prepare it for public display. It’s now on display alongside interpretive materials.

And the timing couldn’t be better, Canoemobile is coming to the River Park next week!

Join us for a FREE public paddle on Saturday, October 10, from 11AM - 3PM. Canoes and equipment are provided, and no paddling experience is necessary.

Come check out the dugout canoe and get out on the river yourself!

Our Weird Fish & Fishing Weirs program was a load of fun. We loved being able to teach everyone about the fish of the Susquehanna River and the fish weirs of the Indigenous Peoples. The fish prints, live eels and other activities were also a hit with our guests! Thanks to Horn Farm Center for the partnership and Columbia Bait and Tackle for donating those wiggly eels!
