We are an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife in Tuolumne and nearby counties, with special focus on birds and squirrels. Our goals are to provide quality rescue, treatment, rehabilitation and release assistance to orphaned, injured and/or diseased wildlife while offering education and public awareness of our native wildlife to the community. We have permits from California Fish and Wildlife and U.S. Fish and Wildlife to do this work. Our volunteers have the facilities and approved training to ensure that the wildlife we care for receives the best possible care and the greatest chance of being released back into the wild.

Meet "The Plumber" 🤣 This opossum probably came thru the cat door, with or without the help of said cat, and maybe needed a drink of water, but it couldn't climb back out. He is a little skinny so we put him in an outside cage. A couple of weeks of free food and we'll send him on his way.

This Red-tailed Hawk was pulled out of a car grill and after the fracture healed, we moved her into our 30' flight cage and were very surprised to see her fly to the high perch without needing the climbing perch to get there. Some more healing and strength building and we hope she will be good to go.

This is the turkey vulture that was pulled out of the grill of a car. The left wing was wrapped for 2 weeks while the fractures healed. We moved him into our 50’ flight cage on Tuesday and today we saw him fly! We’ve still got a long way to go, but so far so good.

This 6 week old Western Gray Squirrel is nothing but skin and bones. Mom hadn’t come home for a few days so he finally left the nest in search of help and found a kind lady in her garden. She brought him to us. He’s doing well and once stable, will join others in care.

This beautiful juvenile Red-tailed Hawk was pulled out of a car grille by a ranger in Calaveras Big Trees State Park. She has a fracture in the right wing which we’ve wrapped. She broke the plastic grille with her head so her neck has quite a kink. We hope a chiropractor will be able to help.

This is the 2nd bird we’ve gotten in a week that had to be removed from a car grille. Thankfully the car’s owner disassembled the grille as the bird was not going to come out the same way it went in. It has 3 fractures in the left wing and is not feeling very good but the wing is wrapped and it has fluids, meds, food offered and a safe place to heal. Time will tell.

This raven had fish line tangled around his right foot which tied him to a tree branch where he hung upside down for 24 hrs before someone was able to climb the tree and cut him down. We wrapped the leg into a bent position for the first few days and replaced that with a shoe yesterday and the raven is standing upright without using its wings for support. He was also starving on intake so the fish line had been a problem for some time. Please pick up fish line and discard it appropriately.

We went to check on this young Red-tailed Hawk because the homeowner was concerned about seeing it over a 24 hour period on the ground, not flying. An exam showed it had eaten a large meal (dead squirrel had been nearby) and once digested, the bird was flying in our cage. We returned the bird back to the property and within 5 minutes, one of the parents showed up. The kid was last seen by the homeowner on a low tree branch with the parent above it on a higher branch.

One of the last of the Western Gray Squirrels we’ve had in care this spring. They were only a few weeks old when their nest was trimmed out of a tree in Groveland. They will be released back there later this week now that the temperature is dropping.
