IFD stepped up to the plate over the weekend at the 2026 Battle of the Badges Charity Softball Tournament benefiting South Carolina Network of Children's Advocacy Centers! ⚾️

Although we didn’t bring home the trophy, we were glad to support an important cause through some (mostly) friendly competition amongst our neighboring first responder agencies. 🤝

Major shoutout to Irmo Fire High Intensity Team, Bear Tree Care LLC, and Southern Suds Laundry Center for supporting our team!

We’re already looking forward to next year’s tourney! Until then, you can find us at the batting cages… working on our swing. 🤪

As the world turns, so does our weather. And boy is it about to turn. Tomorrow morning the mercury will dip to just above 50, and it will be the warmest morning of the week.

That’s right folks, the overnight temps are about to hit their forties. Anyone over forty knows what the forties bring. Pain is odd places, things slow down, either the memory goes first or the eyes - I don’t remember which. All of these things can hit you while you’re walking the dog Sunday morning.

Dig out the sweater, find the jacket, maybe finally get around to washing that long sleeve shirt. Going to church on Sunday is gonna feel like something froze over, might as well dress the part.

For the croc crowd - it’s time. It’s over for the season. I’m begging you to stop. No means no.

We were excited to welcome a group of River Bluff High School seniors to the 'Mo this morning! 🐝

This group has selected first responders as the focus of their senior projects and spent the morning learning more about what we do on a daily basis. They even got an up-close look at a vehicle extrication demo!

Best of luck to these ladies and gents as they continue working on their projects. We hope to have given you some solid content! 🤙

Well folks, looks like a rainy weekend. The remnants of Hurricane Isaias (pronounced Isaias) are passing by to the west, which will bring us increasing rain as the day goes on.
Here’s the fun part: we might see heavy rain, severe thunderstorms and even tornadoes overnight tonight into Sunday morning.
We’re not sure if, when or where the worst weather will show up, all we can tell you for sure is tonight is not a good night to sleep naked. Maybe keep a banana by the bedside.
The Waffle House index shows a pretty severe impact along the gulf coast. Looks like the worst of the worst impacts will remain to the south and west of us.
Follow your favorite weather app for updates and severe weather alerts overnight. Stay safe out there. If you don’t, we’re here for you.

Members of the Irmo Fire High Intensity Team recently traveled to New York to participate in the Tunnel to Towers Foundation New York City 5K! 🇺🇸 🏃

While in the city, they made the most of the trip by visiting the 9/11 Memorial and Museum and checking out a few FDNY firehouses including Ladder 101, Ladder 6, and Ladder 175! 🚒

The Tunnel to Towers organization is deeply connected to our department and we were proud to have representation at both the Columbia, SC AND the NYC races this year! 🤙🏻

Hats off to Irmo Police Department and Town of Irmo for a fantastic National Night Out! 🚒🚓

We had a phenomenal time with Chief Bobby Dale and all of IPD at their annual community event earlier this week, and we were STOKED to be able to add to the excitement with some live vehicle extrication demos! Many thanks to Schroeder's Towing for the cars! 🤝

Until next year!

Our in house meteorologist is monitoring Hurricane Isaias closely. As of right now, looks like we’re in for rain and not much more. Notice the banana colors on the map. That could change in an instant to sunny skies or biblical floods though.

We don’t really have an in house meteorologist, but we do have a dog. Best he can do is respond to what’s happening in the moment. If he’s wet, it’s raining out. If he’s scared, probably a thunderstorm. If he’s asleep, likely warm and sunny. If he’s barking at the door, it’s time to go out and check the weather.

Follow your favorite weather app for updated forecasts. Like and follow us for mild snark and banana references.

Irmo Fire, Lexington County Fire and Lexington County Sheriff crews are on scene of a vehicle fire westbound 20 at MM63, right at the bottom of the Bush River on ramp. Several lanes of traffic are closed.

There were no injuries, the fire is now out and we’re mopping up hot spots. Expect spectator delays and disaster tourism in the area through the noon hour, we are currently working to reopen lanes.

National Fire Prevention Week is here! 🔥

Each October during National Fire Prevention Month, our crews spend time visiting local schools to teach students about fire safety and prevention. These visits allow us to share hands-on, age-appropriate activities and educational materials with every student we meet! 🤝

Many thanks to Terri D Brock - State Farm Agent, who has supported this effort for the past several years by generously providing the educational materials our crews use during these visits. She hand-delivers all the supplies to the firehouse AND treats our crews to lunch while she's here! 🌮

We’re incredibly grateful for her ongoing partnership and dedication to our community! For more information on Fire Prevention Week, please visit 🔗 https://www.nfpa.org/events/fire-prevention-week
