USDA is putting $180 MILLION behind making sure America never depends on foreign adversaries for the seeds that feed the country.

The new Seed Sovereignty Initiative will sequence and analyze more than 600,000 plant genetic resources held by USDA.

The goal is to help American researchers develop stronger crops, respond faster to pests and disease, and keep critical agricultural resources in U.S. hands.

America’s food supply starts with its seeds, and USDA is moving to protect them.
