More families in Richland County will now have a roof over their heads thanks to the help of Homeless No More (HNM), a local housing nonprofit. Today’s groundbreaking for Grand Village, HNM’s latest facility, plans to provide 30 homes at reasonable rates for families in need.

Grand Village will also include the James E. Christopher Community Center, a facility that received $250K in Community Development Block Grant funds from the County’s Community Development Office.

Thank you to HNM and all the collaborative partners for helping expand housing for residents in our community. ❤️🏡🔑

Today, local first responders, including Richland County EMS, the Richland County Sheriff's Department, the Columbia Fire Department and the Columbia Police Department, discussed the importance of the "Slow Down, Move Over" campaign at a media event held at the State Fairgrounds.

When approaching an emergency vehicle with flashing lights:

• Slow down and change lanes if possible
• If a lane change is not possible, approach the area with caution, driving slowly for traffic conditions 🚨🚑

Help to keep our first responders safe!

“Slow Down, Move Over” the next time you approach flashing lights on the side of the road, and ensure you give Richland County’s emergency professionals the space they need to do their jobs and return home to family.
