🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET — SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Today, the members of Columbia Heights Volunteer Fire Department pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We honor the 2,977 innocent people who never made it home, the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, military members, and other first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and the countless families and communities forever changed by that day.

We especially remember the 343 firefighters and 60 law enforcement officers who gave their lives while running toward danger to save others.

Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to serving others will never be forgotten.

Today and every day, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

🚨 COLUMBIA HEIGHTS NEEDS YOU! 🚨

Our community can’t afford to lose its volunteer firefighters.

A recent article in The Caldwell Watchman highlighted something that many rural communities already know: volunteer firefighters are the backbone of rural emergency response.

When that pager goes off, it could be a house fire, vehicle accident, brush fire, medical emergency, storm damage, or something else entirely. While everyone else is running away from the danger, volunteers are getting dressed, climbing into a truck, and heading toward it.

And they do it for one simple reason:

Their community needs them.

The person responding could be your neighbor. Your coworker. Your friend. Maybe even someone you see at the grocery store or church.

You don’t have to be a lifelong firefighter.
You don’t have to know everything.
You don’t have to be fearless.

You just have to be willing to learn, willing to help, and willing to show up when your community needs you.

🔥 Columbia Heights Volunteer Fire Department is looking for people who want to make a difference.

If you’ve ever thought about becoming a volunteer firefighter, now is the time to take that first step.

Come be part of the team.
Come serve your community.
Come help us protect the people and places we call home.

❤️ VOLUNTEERS ARE THE HEARTBEAT OF OUR COMMUNITY.
