📢 IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR COLUMBIA MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENTS! 🐾💙💛

Beginning the 2nd 9 Weeks, Columbia Middle School is implementing a new bookbag procedure to help maintain a safe and orderly learning environment. Due to an abundance of issues involving bookbags and inappropriate items being found on campus, the following expectations will be in place:

🎒 Bookbag Procedure: All CMS students must remove the materials they need for the school day from their bookbags at the start of 1st period.

🔒 Secure Storage: After students gather their materials, bookbags will be locked up in a separate room for the remainder of the school day.

💗 Feminine Products: Feminine products are being strategically placed throughout campus to ensure female students have access to them when needed.

👛 Small Purses: Small purses will be permitted; however, they must be free of any prohibited items.

We appreciate the cooperation and support of our parents and students as we work together to provide a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment for everyone. These procedures are intended to help reduce inappropriate items on campus and keep our focus where it belongs—on learning!

💙💛 Together We Keep CMS Safe!

🏈🎉 CTE TAILGATE FUN AT COLUMBIA! 🎉🏈

A HUGE shoutout to our Columbia CTE Department for hosting our very first CTE Tailgate! 💙💛🐾

Our CTE team brought the energy, excitement, and school spirit by creating an engaging atmosphere filled with games, fun, and opportunities to learn more about the Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) offered at Columbia!

This event was a fantastic way to showcase the opportunities available to our students, highlight the skills and experiences they can gain through CTE, and help set the tone for an unforgettable night of Wildcat pride and football fun! 🏈

Thank you to our CTE department for going above and beyond to engage our students, support our school community, and create memorable experiences that bring us all together.

At Columbia, we are preparing students for success beyond the classroom while continuing to ELEVATE TO HIGHER HEIGHTS! 🚀

A message of appreciation and commitment to safety.

The school system would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Department for its prompt response and actions following an incident reported in the vicinity of our campus Thursday night. We appreciate their attention to the situation and their continued efforts to support the safety and well-being of our community.

We also recognize that situations involving an active investigation require care, discretion, and the responsible sharing of information. The school system did not issue an official statement while the investigation was ongoing and information had not yet been formally communicated to the school. We became aware of the information shared publicly through the Sheriff’s Department’s post yesterday afternoon as the public did. We remain committed to communicating responsibly and sharing verified information when appropriate.

The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We are grateful to our staff, students, families, and community members for their patience, cooperation, and responsible actions as we awaited additional information.

Thank you to the Tyrrell County Sheriff’s Department for its response and to our school community for its continued support, understanding, and commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment.

Together, we remain focused on the safety, security, and success of our students and staff.
