Every good driver knows that pedestrians have the right-of-way. Always yield to pedestrians anywhere in a crosswalk, and never try to pass vehicles stopped at a crosswalk. When approaching a crosswalk, assume there could be someone crossing where you can’t see and approach with caution.

On August 6, 2026, Officer Campbell conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle that failed to stop at an intersection. Her observations and attention to detail led to further investigation and a search of the vehicle, resulting in the recovery of ma*****na packaged for resale and other controlled substances.

Officer Campbell's initiative and ability to recognize signs of additional criminal activity contributed to a successful investigation and the offender's arrest; this helped remove illegal narcotics from the streets of Columbia.

Officer Campbell's hard work and dedication reflect the professionalism and commitment expected of Columbia Police Department members.

Please join us in congratulating Officer Campbell on being selected as the Columbia Police Department’s Officer of the Month for August 2026!

October is Pedestrian Safety Month, and the Columbia Police Department is reminding both drivers and pedestrians to share the road responsibly:

Drivers: Stay alert, put down distractions, and always yield to people in crosswalks.

Pedestrians: Use sidewalks and marked crosswalks whenever available, make eye contact with drivers, and make sure you and your children are visible as it gets dark earlier.

Stay safe this Fall!
