🚑 You don’t need experience to start learning skills that could matter in an emergency.

On October 28 from 7-9 PM, join us at the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department for an EMS Recruitment Drill and get a firsthand look at what our members train to do.

You’ll have the opportunity to check out three hands-on stations:

❤️ CPR: Practice the basics of lifesaving CPR
🦴 Splinting: Learn how a femur fracture is stabilized
🩸 Stop the Bleed: Learn techniques used to control serious bleeding

Come get hands-on, meet our members, ask questions, and see what volunteering with CVFD is really like.

The leaves may be falling, but our call volume isn’t! 🚒🍂

September kept our volunteers on their toes with 48 calls for service, including medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents, structure fires, and more.

As always, we’re grateful for the members who make time in their busy lives to answer the call, no matter the season!

3 out of 4 first responders nationwide are volunteers. 🚒

That means communities across the country, including right here in Connecticut, depend on everyday people choosing to serve.

But fewer people are stepping up to volunteer, and departments still need people ready to answer the call.

Want to see what it takes? Join us October 28 from 7–9 PM for our Recruitment Open Drill.

Your first step toward a career might not happen in a classroom. 🚒

Sometimes, it starts by showing up, learning hands-on, and discovering what you’re capable of.

Current and former CVFD members have gone on to careers in firefighting, EMS, law enforcement, healthcare, corrections, environmental protection, and more. Volunteering can give you the opportunity to learn new skills, gain real-world experience, work as part of a team, and serve your community along the way.

Curious if it could be a fit for you? Come see for yourself.

Join us at the Columbia Volunteer Fire Department on October 28 from 7-9pm for a recruitment drill. Meet our members, see how we train, ask questions, and get a firsthand look at what volunteering with CVFD is like.

Train now. Be ready when it matters.
