Today we pause to remember the 2,977 lives taken from us on September 11, 2001.

We remember the mothers and fathers who never came home. The sons and daughters whose laughter was silenced too soon. The friends, coworkers, and strangers whose ordinary morning became a day that changed the world.

We also remember the courage that rose in the face of that darkness—the first responders who ran toward danger, the passengers who fought back, and the countless people who opened their hearts and homes in the days that followed.

Their light still shines in the lives they touched and in the love that continues to grow around their memory. We carry them with us—not only in sorrow, but in the quiet strength, kindness, and unity they inspired.
On this day and every day, we honor them. We will never forget. 💙

Adair County is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9:00 PM CST tonight.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe storms to develop. Stay alert and be ready to act if warnings are issued.

What to know about a Thunderstorm Watch:
• Storms may produce damaging winds, large hail, and heavy rainfall
• A watch covers a large area and lasts for several hours
• Not all areas will see severe weather, but conditions are possible
• A watch can be upgraded to a warning if severe weather is detected

What you should do:
• Stay weather aware and monitor local alerts
• Have multiple ways to receive warnings (phone alerts, weather radio, TV)
• Secure loose outdoor items that could be blown around
• Be prepared to move indoors quickly if storms develop

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. Stay safe, Adair County.

Adair County has been placed under a Flood Watch until 7:00 AM Thursday morning by the National Weather Service.

A Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for flooding. While flooding is not occurring right now, it could develop quickly if heavy rain moves into the area.

What to watch for:
• Heavy or prolonged rainfall
• Rising water levels in creeks, streams, and low-lying areas
• Water covering roadways
• Rapid changes in weather conditions overnight

How to stay prepared:
• Never drive through flooded roadways — Turn Around, Don’t Drown
• Keep a way to receive weather alerts (phone, NOAA radio, etc.)
• Be alert, especially if you live in flood-prone areas
• Have a plan in case conditions worsen overnight

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. If you have an emergency dial 911. Stay weather aware and stay safe, Adair County!
