& that’s a wrap on our Can You Dig It? series for the year! 🎃🌻

We had such a blast at Pumpkins & Petals and are so thankful for our special guest instructor (and honorary park mom and dad), Jessica & Darrell Miller! Everyone’s creations turned out beautifully!

Missed this one? No worries! Can You Dig It? will be back in the spring! In the meantime, check out our other programs and happenings at maurycountyparks.com

Calling all homeschoolers ages 8–10! Join us for a morning of buzzing, blooming, and bee science at Yanahli Park! 🐝

We’ll learn how honeybees keep their hive happy, try out a little bee dance, conduct a mock hive inspection, and then head outside to visit Yanahli’s very own honeybee hives and search for the QUEEN bee! 👑

📅 Friday, September 25
⏰ 10–11:30am
📍 Yanahli Park
💲 $5/participant

This is a drop-off program with a half-mile outdoor walk to an active hive. Participants should dress for the weather. Due to the nature of the program, it is not recommended for those with a known or severe bee allergy.

Today kicks off our Parks for Pollinators challenge! All month long, we’re exploring Maury County through iNaturalist and keeping track of all the pollinators we find along the way.

Want to join us? It’s easy:

📱 Download the iNaturalist app
🔎 Join our Parks for Pollinators project: https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/parks-for-pollinators-2026-maury-county-parks-and-recreation
📸 Take photos of what you find
🌻 Upload your observations
👀 Keep looking all September long

You don’t have to know what you’re looking at...that’s kind of the point. iNaturalist can help with identification, and every observation adds to our understanding of the species sharing our county with us.

And if you want to get out and explore with us, we’ll be hosting a BioBlitz at Yanahli Park on Saturday, September 26, from 10am–2pm. We’ll have observation stations, activities, and plenty of opportunities to see what we can find!

Free. No experience necessary. Just bring your curiosity (and your phone).

I bet you thought we were done with the butterflies… didn’t you? 🦋

Well, honestly, we may have been but then Ethan shared these photos with us, and they’re just too good not to share. So, one more butterfly post for the road!

A new adventure awaits on the Storybook Trail! 🏕️📖

This month, we’re heading into the woods with The Camping Trip by Jennifer K. Mann. Follow along the trail and discover the joys (and little surprises!) of spending time outdoors, trying new things, and making memories in nature.

Grab your family, take a stroll, and enjoy this month’s story among the trees! 🌲✨

🏞️ Finding the trail: Enter Maury County Park and continue straight on the main park road. Pass Kids Kingdom and head up the hill—the trailhead and parking will be on your right.
