๐Ÿšจ๐Ÿ”ฅ CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER ALERT โ€“ MARION COUNTY ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿšจ

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a Red Flag Warning and a Fire Weather Watch for Marion County due to dangerous fire weather conditions expected Friday and Saturday.

๐Ÿ”ด RED FLAG WARNING
๐Ÿ“… Friday, October 16
โฐ 9:00 AM โ€“ 8:00 PM

โš ๏ธ FIRE WEATHER WATCH
๐Ÿ“… Saturday, October 17
โฐ 11:00 AM โ€“ 7:00 PM

๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ WHAT TO EXPECT:
โ€ข Winds: North winds 15โ€“25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph behind a cold front.
โ€ข Humidity: Relative humidity dropping to 25โ€“40%.
โ€ข Vegetation: Critically dry grass, leaves, and other fuels.
โ€ข Fire Danger: Any fire that starts could spread rapidly and become difficult to control.

๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿ”ฅ PLEASE DO NOT BURN OUTDOORS! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿšซ

We strongly urge everyone to avoid burning brush piles, leaves, trash, or any other debris. Even a small fire can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.

โš ๏ธ REMEMBER:
โ€ข Avoid outdoor burning and activities that create sparks.
โ€ข Never throw cigarette butts onto the ground.
โ€ข Avoid parking vehicles in dry grass.
โ€ข Report uncontrolled fires immediately by calling 911.

๐Ÿš’ Our firefighters have already responded to multiple structure and woods fires caused by outdoor burning in recent days. These conditions make an already dangerous situation even worse.

A Red Flag Warning means critical fire weather conditions are expected, while a Fire Weather Watch means those conditions are possible. Saturdayโ€™s watch could be upgraded to a warning.

Please take these warnings seriously. Help protect your neighbors, homes, property, and the firefighters who respond when emergencies happen.

๐Ÿ”ฅ ONE SPARK IS ALL IT TAKES! IF YOU DONโ€™T HAVE TO BURN, DONโ€™T BURN!

We were glad to make the trip to Pass Christian and spend the day teaching these little ones about fire and life safety! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

Our firefighters had a great time sharing important safety lessons with the students through our Fire Safety Smoke Trailer, and of course, Sparky enjoyed making some new friends!

A big thank you to Pass Christian Fire for inviting us to be part of such a great event! We always enjoy the opportunity to educate our future generations and have a little fun along the way!

๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ STRUCTURE FIRE ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš’

On October 10, 2026, at approximately 4:55 PM, Tri-Community Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the Morning Star community.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a mobile home on fire, along with approximately one acre of surrounding woods and vegetation burning.

Firefighters quickly made entry into the residence and initiated an aggressive interior attack, successfully extinguishing the structure fire. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one end of the residence, preventing it from spreading throughout the remainder of the home.

Tri-Community Fire Department responded with:

4 Engines
1 Squad
1 Brush Truck
17 Firefighters

The Mississippi Forestry Commission also responded and established a firebreak around the wooded area to help contain the fire and prevent further spread.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

Preliminary observations indicate the fire may have originated from a previously burned debris pile that rekindled. The fire then spread through the yard and surrounding woods before reaching the residence.

โš ๏ธ FIRE SAFETY REMINDER โš ๏ธ

This marks the SECOND DAY IN A ROW that our department has responded to a structure fire resulting from outdoor burning.

With the dry and windy conditions we are currently experiencing, we cannot stress enough the importance of exercising extreme caution with outdoor burning.

Just because a fire appears to be out does not mean it is. Burn piles can retain heat and rekindle hours or even days later, especially during dry and windy conditions.

We strongly encourage everyone to avoid outdoor burning during these dry and windy conditions. A small fire can quickly become an uncontrollable situation, threatening homes, property, and lives.

10/10/2026

Please refrain from outdoor burning until weather conditions improve.
All the departments in the area have been busy the last few days due to the dry conditions ๏ฟผand the winds. ๏ฟผ

Tri-Community Fire Department is proud to recognize Captain Stuart Walley, who received the East Volunteer Firefighter, Guardian of the Community Award during the annual Marion County and Columbia Emergency Services 9/11 Memorial Walk.

Captain Walley serves as Captain of Station 3 and continues to demonstrate his dedication to the fire service, our department, and the citizens of our community. As a volunteer firefighter, he gives his time to answer the call and serve his neighbors when they need help most.

This recognition is especially meaningful as we gather on September 11th to honor service, sacrifice, and those who gave everything in the line of duty.

We remember the 343 firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, and 8 EMS personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001, along with the thousands of civilians who lost their lives.

Over the past two weeks, homeowners and businesses within the Tri-Community Fire Protection District should have received our Annual Donation Fundraiser Letter in the mail.

Each year, we send this letter for two important reasons: to ask for your continued financial support and to give you a brief look at what your previous donations have helped us accomplish. There is only so much we can fit on one piece of paper, but the impact of your support reaches much further.

Your donations help us purchase and maintain equipment, improve our stations and apparatus, provide training for our firefighters, and ensure our members have the tools and resources they need when our community calls for help.

To everyone who has donated in the past, continues to support us, or has already responded to this yearโ€™s letter โ€”๐™๐™ƒ๐˜ผ๐™‰๐™† ๐™”๐™Š๐™! Your support truly makes a difference.

If you do not live within our fire protection district, did not receive a letter, or simply want to help support our mission, you can still make a donation.

Our members train hard and dedicate countless hours to being prepared to serve not only the citizens of our fire protection district, but also our surrounding communities when mutual aid is needed. We are proud of what our department has accomplished, and none of it would be possible without the continued support of the people and businesses we serve.
