Friends, family and members of the Ohio National Guard attend a call to duty ceremony for Engineer Advisor Team 6512, 5th Battalion, 54th Security Force Assistance Regiment, 54th Security Force Assistance Brigade, at Maj. Gen. Robert S. Beightler Armory, in Columbus, Ohio, Aug. 3, 2023. This is the fourth engineer team from 5th Battalion to mobilize for federal service for theater support cooperation in support of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command. The Ohio National Guard has a new recruitment incentive program, Bucks for Buckeyes, that allows any current or retired Ohio National Guard member or current state employee of the Ohio Adjutant General’s Department to receive $2,000 for each recruit referral who enlists and reports for initial training. The Ohio National Guard Scholarship Program also has been expanded to cover trade credentialing assistance, as well as covering courses leading to a two-year or four-year college degree. There are currently 119 programs being offered at 395 schools across Ohio and more are being added. 🎥: Staff Sgt. Thomas Moeger

PFC Caleb Breshears is presented the US Army Safety Guardian Award, from COL John Detling and CSM Abraham Johnson of the 16th EN BDE, for his lifesaving actions involving a Soldier experiencing a seizure.

SPC Megan Missler and SPC Nathaniel McVay were presented the US Army Safety Guardian Award from CPT Jordan Price and 1SG Michael Donley, of the 812th Engineer Company, for their life-saving actions involving a vehicle accident they came upon while returning home from training.

Members of the 16th EN BDE, CSM Johnson and SGM Sheets OPS SGM, 112th EN BN CDR LTC Benisek, MAJ Bah S3 along with LTC Yates 1-145 CDR and MAJ Gordon 837th XO, participated in strategic joint engineering initial engagement between Serbian Engineer leadership and the OHARNG.

Happy 234th birthday, Ohio National Guard! On July 25, 1788, the Northwest Territory Militia was formed in Marietta, Ohio, marking the origin of the Ohio National Guard. Our members continue to serve their fellow Ohioans in their local communities and throughout the state, as well contribute to the national defense during mobilizations around the world.
