Raising a child with ADHD can be overwhelming, inspiring, exhausting, and wonderful—all before 9:00 AM! 🧡

This ADHD Awareness Month, let's give ourselves and our kids some extra grace. ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition, not a failure of willpower or parenting. When we switch our mindset from "fixing behavior" to "supporting executive function," everything changes.

3 small shifts for this week:

Use visual schedules instead of repeated verbal reminders.

Praise effort and specific wins, not just end results.

Give advance notice before changing activities or routines.

This is great! Please share with others who may be interested in attending. ALL should be informed on voting & their choices regardless of their label or ability. This includes those with mental health needs & others with disabilities of all kinds!

SABC Abilities in Action and The Arc of Bartholomew County are excited to welcome Columbus Mayor Mary Ferdon as our special guest speaker!

Mayor Ferdon will share her experiences, explain what it means to serve as mayor, and discuss why voting matters—especially for individuals with disabilities.

This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about local government, civic engagement, and the importance of making every voice heard!

Supporting someone with breast cancer means caring for their heart and mind, not just their physical needs. 🩷

Small, intentional acts can make a world of difference when the emotional weight gets heavy. Let's make sure our friends, family, and caregivers know they are seen, heard, and supported this month and every month.

Tag someone who is always there for others to remind them they are loved! 👇

October is Depression Awareness Month, and sometimes the most important question you can ask someone is: "How are you, really?" 💬

People living with depression often become skilled at masking their pain behind smiles and busy schedules. Check-ins don't need to be formal—a simple text can make a world of difference.

3 ways to support a friend today:

Listen without trying to fix it: Sometimes simply validating someone's feelings is the best support.

Offer specific help: Instead of "Let me know if you need anything," try "Can I drop off dinner tonight?" or "Want to take a walk?"

Keep inviting them: Even if they decline social plans, knowing they are included matters.

Tag a friend to let them know you’re thinking of them today. 👇💚

Happy World Mental Health Day! 🧠💚 (10/10)

Today is a global reminder that mental health is a universal human right—and that taking care of your mind is just as essential as taking care of your body.

Life moves fast, so take a pause right now and ask yourself:

❓ How am I feeling today, really?

❓ What is one small thing I can do to recharge my emotional battery?

3 small acts of self-care for today:
🌿 Step away from screens for 15 minutes and go outside.

💬 Text a friend or loved one just to say "thinking of you."

🛑 Say "no" to an extra commitment without feeling guilty.

Let’s break the stigma together. Drop a 💚 in the comments to show your support for mental health awareness today!

🆘 If you or someone you know is going through a tough time, free, confidential help is available 24/7. Call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.

Did you know that neurodiverse teams are up to 30% more productive when properly supported? 💼⚡

This ADHD Awareness Month, we’re highlighting how inclusion directly drives innovation in the workplace. Employees with ADHD frequently bring creative problem-solving, rapid crisis management, and intense hyperfocus to complex projects.

How leaders and teams can create an ADHD-inclusive workspace:
💬 Document agreements: Follow up verbal requests with clear, bulleted written summaries.
⏰ Flexibility: Allow flexible hours or focus blocks where meetings aren't scheduled.
🎯 Focus on outcomes: Measure results achieved rather than rigid desk time or process steps.

Inclusion isn't just about accommodations—it's about designing environments where all minds can thrive.
