Edit: Voting is done! Thank you to all who voted! Voting took place on Facebook and in person, at The Meeting Place. Our overall winner is Lena Jackson, with “Cinda’Stop!”. The runner up was “Dumbo”, by Wanda Reid.

Today is the day! Take a look at this year’s decorated pumpkins. Participants were able to create their pumpkin creations with any material of their choosing. Please, only vote for one pumpkin. You can vote by liking the picture of your favorite pumpkin.

Our Jack o' Lantern Contest is tomorrow! Don't forget to vote! Entries will be viewable on Facebook tomorrow morning, starting at 9am. Online voting ends at 11am. In-person voting ends at 11:30am. You can vote for ONE entry only by liking the picture of the entry. Any names that appear more than once will not be counted. Entries will also be viewable, in-person, at The Meeting Place during the same time. If you're competing, you can drop off your entry as late as 4:30pm, this afternoon.

It’s time for our annual Cheer on Wheels drive!

Each year, we spread a little extra joy to our homebound seniors in Polk County by delivering thoughtfully filled and wrapped shoeboxes full of goodies!

You can help make this holiday season a little brighter by:
*Donating items for our boxes
*Filling a shoebox of your own
*Helping us wrap boxes

Items include activity books, toiletries, warm socks, treats, stocking stuffers, and other thoughtful surprises!

Every donation helps us share a little happiness with the seniors in our community. Thank you for helping us make this special tradition possible!

The Meeting Place is looking for local organizations, agencies, businesses, and community partners who would like to connect with our seniors and share the resources, knowledge, and services you provide.

There are lots of ways to get involved! You could:

Give an educational presentation
Share information about community resources and services
Host bingo, trivia, or another fun activity
Lead a craft or hands-on project
Offer a health, fitness, safety, or wellness program
Provide music or entertainment
Lead a community service project

Not sure what you could do? That's okay! Tell us a little about your organization and what you do, and we'll be happy to help brainstorm a program that would be a good fit for our seniors.

We welcome both one-time visits and ongoing programs!

Our goal is to help our seniors stay connected to the people, programs, and resources available right here in our community.

Last week, we had a fantastic time, learning some important self-defense skills with the sheriffs department! Our attendees had the opportunity to learn, practical techniques, build confidence, and have some fun along the way!

A big thank you to everyone who helped make the class such a success! We’ve already heard that there’s interest in doing another class in the future.

Thank you to the sheriffs department for spending time with us, and helping our seniors feel a little more prepared and confident!
