It eliminates the rights of citizens to come together to bargain with management for a better life. SB 5 passed the Senate last week, and now the only thing in the way of SB 5 becoming law is the Ohio House. SB 5 is terribly unfair. SB 5 bars police officers and firefighters from bargaining for b

“The House Democratic caucus is very impressed with the number of candidates that we have and because of the Republican over-reach and the attack on the middle class, we will be able to make significant gains,” said Alex Youn, executive director of the Ohio House Democratic Caucus. “How many gains that is — it’s too early to determine. If the Republicans continue as they are, we’ll be in a very good position.”

Poll: Majority disapprove of Ohio's Kasich 02/16/2012

"Ohio voters sent John Kasich a strong message in November by repealing Senate Bill 5 [that would have restricted collective bargaining] and his numbers haven't improved any since then," said Dean Debnam, president of Democratic Party-affiliated polling firm. "He remains one of the least popular governors in the country and that could help Democratic prospects in the state this fall."

‘Right-to-work’ backers may seek signatures 02/10/2012

"Meanwhile, the coalition of Democrats, unions and President Barack Obama’s Ohio re-election team that collected the signatures to get House Bill 194 on the ballot is in no mood to talk and is vowing to overturn any new elections changes that GOP lawmakers try to re-enact this year."

GOP can’t agree on repealing voting law Senate Republicans want to repeal a package of election law changes that is facing a referendum on the November ballot and then work out a bipartisan agreement on a new batch of revisions.

From the Cincinnati Enquirer:

John Kasich’s second State of the State speech Tuesday was rambling and at times bizarre. Among his head-jerking references, Kasich told the first three winners of a newly-created state courage award not to sell the medals on eBay; pointed out his “hot wife;” and imitated someone with Parkinson’s disease when he talked about “deep brain massage.”

In other words, typical Kasich.

In a recent interview, a top Ohio Republican defended this in a curiously belligerent way, one that may reverberate in the race’s final days: He claimed lawmakers don’t need to take a pay cut in the spirit of shared sacrifice, because “I earn my pay,” adding: “Republicans earn their money.”
