During their visit to Arlington National Cemetery, Weaver Middle School students had the honor of participating in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. They also had the unexpected opportunity to witness a wreath laying by an Honor Flight.

Our students formed a tunnel to welcome the veterans, clapping, offering fist bumps and sharing heartfelt words of “Thank you for your service.” Students also had the opportunity to hear briefly from veterans and express their gratitude for their service and sacrifice.

The moment was deeply moving for the veterans and their families, who shared how much the students’ kindness meant to them. One described the experience as helping to “mend their hearts.”

We couldn’t be prouder of our Wildcats for showing such compassion, respect and gratitude.

A new chapter in Hilliard City Schools history has a name!

The Board of Education has unanimously approved Wales Sixth Grade School for the school that will be created by repurposing the current Brown Elementary building on Walker Road.

The name honors the Wales School, a one-room school established on the site in 1840, and recognizes the Welsh heritage that helped shape Brown Township.

More details to come!

Students in Mrs. Martin’s science classes at Davidson recently put the theory of island biogeography into practice through a hands-on activity exploring how species colonize islands and how factors like size and isolation can impact biodiversity.

By applying these ecological concepts, students gained a deeper understanding of species distribution and the patterns scientists observe in natural ecosystems.
