As you head out trick-or-treating, please remember these important safety tips:

🚒 For Parents & Trick-or-Treaters:

* Carry a flashlight or glow sticks so you can be seen.
* Wear reflective clothing or add reflective tape to costumes.
* Make sure costumes fit properly to prevent trips and falls.
* Always walk on sidewalks when available.
* Look both ways before crossing streets.
* Never run between parked cars.
* Only visit homes with their porch lights on.
* Never enter a stranger’s home or vehicle.
* Parents should accompany younger children.
* Check all candy before allowing children to eat it.

🚗 For Drivers:

* Slow down and watch for children.
* Be extra careful in neighborhoods and residential areas.
* Eliminate distractions and keep your eyes on the road.
* Remember, children may be excited and may not always watch for traffic.

The Lowndes County Burn Ban has been officially extended. It will run till November 26, 2026. The State Forester signed it today along with the Board Of Supervisors President. It may be lifted IF we receive ADEQUATE rainfall. Conditions are too dry and dangerous to burn. The majority of Mississippi is now under a burn ban.
