Library Student Assistant Spotlight: Michealla Jeannite!

Where are you from?
Akron, Ohio
Why did you choose to attend ODU?
I liked how much it was advertised as a small tight-knit community and that was what I was looking for in a university.
Who is your favorite professor?
Dr. Sonya Goshe !
What has been your favorite course at ODU?
My favorite course has been the Inside-Out Program that allows Dr. Goshe to take us to a local jail and have class with inmates who are working on re-integration skills.
Where is your favorite spot on campus?
The bench of the grand piano in the Colonial Room.
What is your favorite ODU tradition?
The Annual Ghost Walk
What is your favorite memory associated with ODU?
Living with my friend Anna for an entire year, it was always a new adventure daily.
What are you involved with besides sports?
ODU’s Marching Panthers, Panther Players, Gay-Straight Alliance, Black Student Union, History Club, and many other student organizations.
Which ODU faculty or staff member has made the greatest impact on you? Why?
I believe Dr. Goshe would be the one who had the greatest impact on me. She exposed me to a lot of issues in the justice system and gave me a whole new passion for rehabilitation for incarcerated individuals.
What other people or resources impacted your ODU experience in a positive way? How did these people and resources set you up to be a successful?
The library! Melanie, Josh, Greg, and Lindsey have all been great help throughout my years at ODU! They’ve either been through exactly what I’m working on or know someone who can help me get the problem situated. They’re always an email away and go through great lengths to help each student worker out.
Tell us something cool you have done as a student at ODU?
I’ve gotten to watch a real court hearing while in the jury stand!
