On Saturday, most of the Holocaust & Genocide Studies students were able to visit the Cincinnati Museum Center where they experienced the special exhibit, "Auschwitz: Not Long Ago, Not Far Away." Students toured the three-hour exhibit, which consists of over 500 artifacts, with original maps, photographs, video footage, and survivor testimony. The exhibit has been touring in the United States for several years and is in its last stop before returning to Poland. The Cincinnati Museum Center, which is the original train terminal, was the gateway for the final destination of many Holocaust survivors. The trip was timed to help conclude a five-month multi-unit study of the Holocaust.
We want to specially thank the Ohio Holocaust and Genocide Memorial and Education Commission, for providing the grant to cover all transportation and museum entrance expenses. We are fortunate for this kind of support as Ohio helps to lead the way in Holocaust and genocide education.
