Please help congratulate our newest Noncommissioned officers (NCO) SGT Smith and SGT Parrish and the newly promoted Staff Sergeant (SSG) Weaver.

SPC Boling received an Army Achievement Medal (AAM) for being the winner of the Soldier of the Year Competition. SPC Boling dedicated a great amount of her free time preparing for the competition. Her hard work and dedication through the competition does not go unnoticed. Congratulations SPC Boling!

MAJ Rinto received an Army Accommodation Medal (ARCOM) in recognition of her hard work and dedication as the Brigade Surgeon for the 16th EN BDE. MAJ Rinto helped tremendously to ensure all Soldier members had an opportunity to receive the COVID-19 Vaccine. Thank you MAJ Rinto!

This morning, 5 members of HHC 16th Engineer Brigade completed the Norwegian Foot March, a 30Km ruck march, in duty uniform, with a 25lb ruck, completed in an allotted amount of time. Congratulations SPC Alexia Boling 4:34, MAJ Denise Stewart 4:41, CPT Neil Finlayson 4:13, CPT Miranda Blackburn 3:57, and CPT Sulaiman Bah 4:06. You guys crushed it!

Soldier of the Year Competition Results.

Please congratulate the top four soldiers who will compete in the final event on 13 March.

SPC Kelly, SPC Smith, SPC Boling and SPC Birko. (No specific order)

Due to travel and school SPC Smith and SPC Birko will not be able to participate in the final event. SPC Hayden and SPC Ensman were the runner ups so they will be competing in the final event.

Solider of the Year (Round 2)

Last Saturday, we had 10 Soldier members compete in the Soldier of the Year competition (SOY) This second round gave soldiers, who were not available to compete in the first SOY,
an opportunity to compete.

All soldiers were tested on 6 events.

A fitness event, 7 mile Ruck March, land navigation skills, basic weapon knowledge and skills, communication techniques and knowledge of proper medical care.

Three soldiers from the Survey and Design section received a coin from the commander of the 40th Brigade Engineer Battalion (BEB), LTC Robert Fairel, for providing a block of survey training to the Technical engineers of the 40th BEB.

The soldiers of HHC conducted the Army’s new physical fitness test now known as the Army combat fitness test (ACFT).This was a diagnostic test for the sole purpose of giving soldiers an idea of where they are at physically and what they need to work on.

The ACFT consists of 6 events:

Max Deadlift
Power throw
Hand release push ups
Sprint-Drag-Carry
Knee tuck
2 mile run
