Voices for Su***de Prevention Advocacy Update
📅 June 9, 2026 | 10:30–11:00 AM
Advocacy in su***de prevention is about more than responding to a crisis. It’s about building systems, policies, and communities that prioritize people before they ever reach a crisis point.
Join us for this month’s Voices for Su***de Prevention Advocacy Update as we explore what prevention truly means and why it matters now more than ever.
OSPF CEO Tony Coder and Chief Strategy Officer Daniel Bennett will discuss how advocacy can shift the conversation from reacting to tragedy to investing in lives before loss occurs.
This month’s conversation will also highlight the growing need to center people over profits in mental health and su***de prevention systems, along with updates on new su***de prevention legislation in Ohio and what it could mean for communities statewide.

May may be ending, but the conversations we started cannot.
Mental Health Awareness Month is a time to reflect, learn, and show up for one another. For many in our community, this work is deeply personal.
This week, we are sharing perspectives from two OSPF Board members who are also loss survivors. Chris and Jeff remind us why this work matters and why we must keep going.
There is no end date for supporting mental health. Let’s continue to check in, speak up, and create spaces where people feel seen and supported.

A lot of us end the day the same way: scrolling in bed, phone in hand, trying to unwind.
But for some, that quiet moment can also bring heavier thoughts.
If your mind starts to go somewhere dark, you don’t have to sit with it alone. You can text 988. Free, confidential, and available 24/7.
Save it. Share it. You never know who might need it tonight.

What does meaningful, lasting support for Black girls’ mental health actually look like?
In our latest Voices for Su***de Prevention episode, we’re joined by Fran Frazier of the Black Girl Rising Research Project and Rebecca Jones of the Mental Health, Addiction and Recovery Services Board of Lorain County.
Together, they share what it takes to support African American girls with honesty, rigor, and care, from girl-led models to building community through connection and trust.
This conversation highlights both the realities many young people face and the resilience, leadership, and potential that often go overlooked.

Last Saturday, OSPF joined the 6th Annual 33 Forever Mental Health Birthday Walk in downtown Mansfield in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month and Dani’s legacy 💜
While storms and heavy rain moved most of the event indoors to the Richland Carrousel Park, the community still showed up with heart, resilience, and support. A few dedicated walkers even braved the rain to complete the 3.3K route through downtown Mansfield.
The day was filled with connection, free carousel rides, local mental health resources, food, family activities, and an important reminder that conversations around mental health matter every day.
