Does your little one love fire trucks?

Next Saturday, we’re opening the doors to the Comfort Volunteer Fire Department, and we’d love to show them around!

They’ll get to see our fire trucks up close, meet the firefighters, explore equipment, enjoy games and activities, and of course, grab some Halloween candy!

We’re also putting together some fun little prizes for the kids!

After a 5AM call and busy start to the morning, a few of our volunteers finally got a chance to grab some breakfast tacos before heading off to their regular jobs.

The morning included multiple calls, including traffic accidents and other incidents that come with their own set of challenges, especially in the early morning darkness, when visibility is low and roadside scenes can be especially dangerous.

That’s part of the volunteer side of this job that people don’t always see. The tone sounds, you answer the call, help where you’re needed, get everything back in service… and then you head to work like everyone else.

So for a few minutes this morning, it was tacos, coffee and a little sunrise before the rest of the day got started.

Thank you to our volunteers who keep showing up, no matter what time the call comes in.

No outdoor burning in Kendall County today or tomorrow, October 16 and 17, per state statute, as shared by Kendall County Fire Marshal Brady Constantine.

With the windy weather we’re getting, please save the burning for another day. Wind can carry embers into nearby grass and brush, turning a small burn into a spreading fire.

This temporary pause applies even with the countywide burn ban off. Please share with your neighbors and help us keep our community safe.

What started early this morning ended with a pretty great first win for the Comfort VFD Golf Classic.

More than 104 golfers came out for our first tournament, and we couldn’t have asked for a better turnout.

A huge thank you to all of our sponsors who helped make the day possible, every golfer who signed up and showed up, and all of our volunteers who took time off from their regular jobs to come “work” this event for free.

The money raised today will go directly back into the department - helping us maintain equipment, improve training, replace gear and continue doing everything we can to keep our families and community safe.

More than anything, it was just a great day with a lot of good people coming together for a good reason.

For a first annual tournament, y’all set the bar pretty high.

Thank you for making the 1st Annual Comfort VFD Golf Classic a success. We’ll see you next year. ⛳🚒

A great day in America!

And just like that, the carts are off and the First Annual Comfort Volunteer Fire Department Golf Classic is underway!

What a sight to see so many people coming together to support our volunteer firefighters and the community we proudly serve.

A huge thank you to our sponsors, players, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this first tournament possible.

Here’s to a great day of golf, good friends, and a tradition we hope continues for many years to come!

Yesterday, our volunteers responded to an approximately 1.5 acre grass fire, with Brush 51, Brush 52 and Tender 56 working the scene.

Seven Comfort VFD volunteers - Will, Pam, Kaleb, Danny, Noah, Wayne and Travis.

We also got to put Air 51, our new drone, to work. From above, it gives us a clear view of what the fire is doing, where it’s moving and where crews need to concentrate their efforts. That helps us communicate better on the ground, attack the fire more effectively, and keep our volunteers out of unnecessary danger whenever possible.

It’s also been a busy few days. Since Monday, Comfort VFD has responded to three grass fire calls - one canceled while we were en route - two medical calls and an accident.

The burn ban is currently off, but that doesn’t mean the fire danger is gone. If you’re planning to burn, take a few minutes beforehand to clear brush and dry vegetation away from the pile, mow around the area when appropriate, have water ready, and keep an eye on the wind.

A little preparation can be the difference between a controlled burn and a call to the fire department.

Comfort ISD families are invited to join our community tonight for National Night Out at Comfort Park!

Come meet members of the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, Comfort Volunteer Fire Department, and local Flood Search & Rescue teams as we come together to recognize and thank the first responders who serve our community.

There will be a community potluck and live music by the Lone Star Swing Orchestra. Bring a dish to share - beverages will be provided.
