PLEASE SHARE: Do you recognize this individual?

On September 17th around noon, he and several other men are suspected of brutally attacking one of our local unhoused community members in Fairfax Park.

The attack was random and unprovoked and the victim was severely injured.

He’s described as a thin Hispanic male, with tattoos on his right arm and glasses.

CCPD TRAFFIC TEAM INVESTIGATES VEHICLE VS PEDESTRIAN CRASH:

Late last night the CCPD Traffic Team was called to the 5800 block of Highway 85 after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

The driver remained on scene; the pedestrian was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

Our preliminary investigation shows he stepped into the roadway where there was no crosswalk, just south of the intersection with East 60th Avenue.

Please keep all involved in your thoughts this morning. Regardless of who was at fault, incidents like these are tragic.

That’s how many totally free Halloween costumes we have to give away to you this SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17TH, at the 4th annual “Costumes with a Cop” event!

Officers Henrichs and Garcia are ready to take you shopping in our costume tents to find your perfect fit— plus every newly costumed kiddo leaves with a treat bag full of goodies too!

We have sizes infant to larger teen and it’s a first come, first costumed deal so show up early to secure your place in line (the costume tents officially open at 9am).

Why do we do it every year? Because cost shouldn’t be a barrier to celebrating Halloween; the holiday is for everyone!

We’ll see you bright and early Saturday in front of the Civic Center (7887 E 60th), Commerce City!

The combination of a vigilant community member plus our tech and good old-fashioned policing lead to another solid arrest.

When we got a call from a concerned citizen yesterday that a masked individual was attempting to break into cars near a Commerce City apartment complex, we launched our drone from the Real-Time Crime Center at PD headquarters and got a visual on the suspect while we waited for ground officers to arrive.

We spotted him inside a vehicle attempting to tamper with the steering column, then exiting when he was unsuccessful. He began walking, then running away from the scene of the crime as officers rolled up and intercepted him.

We learned he was a 15-year-old kid already on probation for Motor Vehicle Theft.

Special thanks to the observant citizen who called 911, our fast-acting drone operators, and our agile patrol officers.

How was your weekend, Commerce City?

Like we tell you every Monday, ours was busy serving and protecting the community we love. We arrested a suspect who randomly threw a rock through a car window and struck a little girl (she will thankfully be okay), we arrested several DUI drivers whose poor decisions resulted in crashes (fortunately no one was seriously injured), and we arrested a wrong-way driver who collided with several vehicles then attempted to flee the scene of the crime on foot (our drone operators ensured he didn't get far). Rest assured-- we made lots of arrests.

RTCC DFR FTW IYKYK

Last night a suspected drunk driver was traveling the wrong way on I-76 when he struck multiple vehicles head-on-- terrifying.

Instead of remaining on the scene and taking accountability, the driver fled on foot into a nearby field, easily disappearing in the dark.

But he didn't account for our Real-Time Crime Center's Drone as First Responder Program, which enabled us to launch a drone remotely from PD headquarters and use infrared imaging to identify his heat signature. Operators then directed officers on the ground to the suspect's location and he was taken into custody.

We love when good old-fashioned policing and technology come together For The Win.

Good work, Community Service Officer Nickolaus.

Our CSOs are compassionate animal lovers and when they encounter a terrified, helpless, furry four-legged creature, they want nothing more than to help.

That's exactly what CSO Nickolaus did earlier this week when he received a call about an aggressive dog-- an apparent stray-- roaming around a Commerce City neighborhood up north.

The pup was agitated, but CSO Nickolaus kept his calm, using a catch-pole to wrangle the dog and then eventually putting him into his rig to be transported to one of our local animal shelters for care.

It was a tenuous situation, but we train for that! Thanks, CSO Nickolaus, for your kind heart and fast hands.

Sneak peak!!!

School Resource Officer Kunugi had $500 in her hot little hands to spend on Halloween costumes for our "Costumes with a Cop" giveaway October 17th, thanks to the generosity of our local Fraternal Order of Police organization!

And yes... we spent it all in one place-- Walmart in Commerce City has some of the cutest (and spookiest) apparel!

We're getting pretty excited for the 4th annual "Costumes with a Cop," and we hope you are too! We've exceeded the 200 costume mark and are anticipating a plethora of incoming donations this next week from our own officers, school groups, and generous community members like you.

Remember: the costumes are completely free for you. There's no catch. Just show up early (we get started at 9am but there's always a line before we open the costume tents for shopping) to guarantee your kiddos one of our brand new or gently used costumes!

Why do we do it? Because Halloween shouldn't be exclusively for those who can afford it-- the holiday is for everyone!
