There’s a fantastic swim team in Walnut Creek that’s sponsored by Special Olympics. It’s 100% volunteer based and offers sessions in the spring and fall. There is still time to sign up your kids for this program. Here’s more info from their website:

The East Bay Sea Serpents (EBSS) is a Special Olympics Northern California swim program serving athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities across the East Bay. We’re more than just a swim team. We’re a community built on inclusion, connection, and the belief that everyone belongs in the water.

Our program supports athletes of all ability levels, from those just learning to be comfortable in the pool to swimmers training for competition. Whether it’s a first kick across the pool or a race at a championship meet, every milestone matters here.

The City of Concord invites you to attend a community meeting to learn about the City's Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan update.

At the meeting, City staff will provide an overview of the ADA Transition Plan and share how it helps identify and prioritize accessibility improvements at City parks and facilities. Community members will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to help guide future ADA upgrades.

The meeting is scheduled to take place in person on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers and online via Zoom.

Is your child a Gestalt Language Processor? They memorize scripts from their favorite videos and communicate with those phrases. For anyone who has trouble understanding this process, please watch this clip. It’s the best description I’ve ever heard or seen of how GLPs learn and speak. Please share to help people better understand GLP learning.
