Members of the Merrimack County Sheriff's Office and the Merrimack County Department of Corrections proudly participated in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run on June 10, 2026, joining county, local, and state law enforcement agencies from across New Hampshire as Guardians of the Flame in support of Special Olympics athletes.
The Merrimack County leg of the run covered approximately 14 miles, carrying the Flame of Hope through communities across the county before concluding at the New Hampshire State House. The torch's journey serves as a symbol of courage, inclusion, and determination as it makes its way to the 2026 Special Olympics New Hampshire State Summer Games in Durham.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a longstanding tradition that raises awareness and support for Special Olympics athletes, while strengthening the partnership between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
