Rachel Rogers, Owner of Mud Slingers Pottery & Glass Studio has enjoyed being part of the downtown Concord community for the past eight years. The experience has been awesome, but life does have it phases and it is now time for me to retire from the retail business and move on to the next chapters of my life.

I especially enjoyed teaching the classes that were made-up of all ages – kids as young as two in the Parent/Child program and an 86 year “young” lady in the Potters Night Out event. My goal was to introduce the art of creating pottery from start to finish; I taught many handbuilding and wheel throwing classes.

I estimate that I have exposed over 1,000 people to the art of creating works of art utilizing clay and then applying glaze to achieve beautiful results. I am so thankful and proud that I was able to touch so many people and that I was able to call so many of my customers and associates “friends”. I also enjoyed participating in the many events in downtown Concord.

So many of you have asked what is in store for me when I retire ... Although it will be hard to close the doors for the final time, I can assure you, I won’t be sitting idle. I can envision the possibility of teaching private classes in both clay and glass from my new studio…which I have already named Rachel’s Pottery Den. I would also like to create commissioned, one-of-a-kind, unique specialty art in glass and ceramics….and I even have plans to make some pottery and glass to display in my own home…something I never seemed to have time to do before. My bucket list continues to grow and certainly includes traveling … boating … golfing … hiking … maybe some fishing! Stay tuned on Facebook for periodic updates.

I am also looking forward to helping John design and build our retirement log home in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Thank you to all who supported me during these years. My telephone number will remain the same and I hope you will stay in touch.

My best to all,
Rachel
