A moment in history. On December 5th, 1952, the City of Concord hired its first African American police officer, Mr. Lawrence Calvin Evans, affectionately known as "LC". I am grateful for his service to our community. He had courage and endurance and showed kindness to others during a time when others were not so kind to him. I and others stand on his shoulders today. We are thankful for the door that he opened and the road that he paved in our law enforcement history. Photo Credit: Bernard Davis, Local Historian.

I thank God for the opportunity to be of service to the citizens of Concord for another term. I thank each individual and organization that endorsed/supported me during the election process. For those that did not vote for me, but did cast a vote, I am glad that you exercised your right to vote. Reflecting on the past four years, I have learned and I have listened to your concerns, perspectives and suggestions. While a lot has been accomplished there is more work to do in Concord. I look forward to continued work with the Concord citizens, new/current council members and city staff. Let's continue to work together to build Concord. God's Peace and blessings. In sincere gratitude, Betty.
