Concord Kannapolis Area Transit (Rider)

A public hearing will be held on Thursday, June 11th, 2026, from 3pm to 5pm at the Rider Transit Center 45 Transit Court NW, Concord, for the purpose of soliciting input regarding proposed changes to the Rider Transit System as a result of proposed budget reductions by the City of Kannapolis, including: the elimination of the current Brown Route; modification of the current Blue Route; and elimination of weekend service on the Blue and Green Routes.

Rider Transit will be closed on Monday, May 25th for Memorial Day.
Normal Service will resume on Tuesday, May 26th.

Transportation 4 America has recently released a report studying all 372 of the Urbanized Areas in the United States to see what we need to do all across the country to achieve the level of public transit service found across much of the rest of the world (on average, it's 20% or less compared to most other similar sized cities and communities - for Concord, it's less than 10%).
