As a candidate running for County Commissioner, I, as well as ALL PRIMARY winners and local elected officials, were invited to a Lunch & Learn with Cabarrus Meals on Wheels on March 25, 2026. Sadly, only 4 of us took them up on this amazing opportunity to learn more about this 50-year-old local nonprofit.
Meals on Wheels serves our Senior Adults daily meals, enabling them to live independently and safely in their own homes. Their program helps strengthen the health of our community members and our county, with funding fully independent of county taxpayer dollars. As county commissioners, it is vital that we work with our local nonprofits as community assets; their programming enables county funding to be used in ways that keep our tax rate low and meet mandated county demands.
What is sad is that others choose to use a picture of me from the luncheon for political fodder! The real question is, why aren't more of our primary winners and elected officials as concerned about the needs of our senior adults and working with our nonprofits? Our senior adults have lived full lives, and they should be able to live in their own homes with dignity and a warm meal.
You will continue to see me out and about in our county, learning about the needs of ALL OF OUR COUNTY RESIDENTS. Our local governments work best in partnership with our local non-profits, schools, and all county resources that make Cabarrus County the best place to live, work, and age gracefully.

Last Thursday morning, I was thrilled to attend the Kannapolis Education Foundation breakfast. We were surrounded by a room full of people who eagerly support the students and staff of the Kannapolis City Schools day in and day out.
As a graduate of A.L. Brown High School, I was filled with emotions as we watched young elementary, middle and high schoolers perform and sing. 👩🎓 🎶
It is shocking, but I was once a shy young girl and it was through the drama, basketball, science and history programs in high school that helped me bloom. 🎭 ❤️
I will forever be grateful and indebted to those who helped me grow and thrive. As I watched these young students, I could envision how they were thriving and learning just as I did 30+ years ago. I have high hopes for all of them!

I was so grateful to have been asked to participate in the Cabarrus Meals on Wheels Lunch and Learn today! Cabarrus Meals on Wheels does so many incredible things for the citizens of Cabarrus County, and I am blessed to have been surrounded by other influential leaders in our community!
This organization and its volunteers continue to impress me, day in and day out. They work tirelessly to ensure our most vulnerable receive a warm meal each day, driving over 500 miles to deliver 400 meals across Cabarrus County.
At present, they have nearly 100 people on their waitlist. As our population continues to age, the need will only become greater.
How can you help?

"Cabarrus Meals on Wheels is a non-profit organization that provides eligible homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities within Cabarrus County a well-balanced, nutritious meal 5 days a week. Cabarrus Meals on Wheels’ deliveries not only provide meals but the support and peace of mind that help seniors remain in their own homes longer, delaying or avoiding alternate living arrangements or nursing care."

I entered this primary only wanting to do what was best for the citizens of Cabarrus County. I have lived my entire life here in Cabarrus County and it has been an honor to call it home! Cabarrus County shaped me to be a better human, a better public servant and a better community partner. My campaign has never been about me, but truly about the 244,000+ residents who make this the best place to live, work and play. I am extremely grateful that the people of Cabarrus County showed up to have their voices heard. We are better together and I am eternally grateful that you all want me to be your voice. Thank you will never be enough to say for my supporters who helped me win this primary. I will continue to be your voice and your advocate, because we are truly better together!
