🚂 Documenting the Damage on Laurel Straight

Our volunteers continue walking the line and documenting flood damage, this time along the “Laurel Straight.”

Every washout, damaged section, and detail we document helps us understand the work ahead and plan for rebuilding.

Mile by mile, we’re working our way back. 💪❤️

🚂 Documenting the Damage Near Milepost 59

Our volunteers continue walking the line and documenting flood damage, including these washouts through the field near Milepost 59.

The flood left its mark far beyond the tracks, and documenting each area helps us understand the full scope of the damage and plan the repairs ahead.

Mile by mile, we’re working our way back. 💪❤️

📸 From Flood Damage to Progress! 🚂💪

The first picture shows what this section of track looked like immediately after the floodwaters receded. The damage left behind was a sobering reminder of the work ahead and just how much the August flooding impacted our railroad.

Fast forward to today, and our dedicated track crew is hard at work repairing this very spot! 🛠️ Every tie replaced, every load of ballast moved, and every hour our volunteers put in brings us one step closer to restoring our historic line.

🔎 Did you notice the orange marks on the side of the rail? Those marks identify spots where a railroad tie needs to be replaced! It's one of the ways our crew identifies areas that need attention as they work to get the track back into shape.

The road to recovery is long, and there is still so much work to do, but seeing progress in places that were once damaged gives us hope for the future. ❤️

We are incredibly grateful to our volunteers who continue to dedicate their time, energy, and skills to rebuilding the Whitewater Valley Railroad. Every repair brings us one step closer to getting back on track!
