Conover Police Department The Conover Police Department is internationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).

We exist to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. We accomplish this by delivering the highest level of professional police services possible. The Conover Police department is comprised of 30 full-time officers, 1 Code Enforcement Officer, 2 civilian Records Clerks, 6 part-time employees, and 5 volunteer Police Chaplains. This group of professionals provides law enforcement and community services to the citizens of Conover twenty-four hours a day seven days a week. The men and women of the Conover Police Department are dedicated to service, excellence and working in partnership with the community. The department takes great pride in being a service oriented police department. The City of Conover hired its first full-time law enforcement officer in 1926. Since that time, the department has had 9 Police chiefs and has grown to the current staffing levels based upon growth and the ability to maintain current levels of service. To better serve the citizens of Conover, the police department has placed an emphasis on technology, education and professionalism. All patrol vehicles being equipped with laptop computers and video cameras illustrate this commitment. A career path program provides for advance training for officers and the department provides many opportunities for advance training. Thank you, Conover, for another great National Night Out! We had a packed evening with live music, free food, local vendors, plenty of laughs, and more than a few people taking their turn in the dunk booth!

We’re especially grateful to our sponsors and community partners who helped make the event possible. Your support gave us another great opportunity to connect with the people we serve outside of the usual day to day.

We had a blast and hope you did too. Thanks for coming out and spending the evening with Conover PD! We'll see y'all next year!

Scams are getting harder to spot, but protecting yourself doesn’t have to be complicated.

Here are a few simple tips that are easy to remember:

• Slow down. Scammers want you to act before you have time to think.
• Don’t click unexpected links in texts or emails.
• Never give out passwords, verification codes, or banking information to someone who contacts you unexpectedly.
• If someone demands payment by gift card, cryptocurrency, or wire transfer, that is a major red flag.
• When in doubt, hang up and call the company, bank, or agency directly using a number you know is legitimate.
• Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it probably deserves a second look.

AARP has put together a helpful directory explaining many of today’s common scams, how they work and the warning signs to watch for: https://www.aarp.org/money/scams-fraud/scam-types/

Take a few minutes to look through it and consider sharing it with a family member or friend. Knowing what to look for before the call, text or email arrives can make all the difference.
