MCMLS outreach programs play a vital role in strengthening our community, expanding access to information, and promoting lifelong learning. Many residents don’t realize just how much their library has to offer! Through community events, school visits, and local partnerships, we share resources, build connections, and help more people benefit from library services.

Last week, our team participated in three major community events, connecting personally with more than 1,400 people! 🎉

🚀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗲/𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗿𝗼𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿 — Tuesday, October 20. More than 2,500 seventh-grade students explored career opportunities. Our team demonstrated a 3D printer as part of the new Innovate@MCMLS initiative, gave students a behind-the-scenes look at the technology that helps us prepare new books for the shelves, and shared what makes being a librarian such a magical career! ✨

From personalized gifts and monogrammed towels to custom clothing and accessories, this machine makes it easier than ever to add your own creative touch. With professional-quality stitching, an 8” x 8” embroidery area, and speeds of up to 1,000 stitches per minute, there’s 𝘴𝘦𝘸 much you can create! 🪡

🏛 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 | 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟰, 𝟭𝟵𝟲𝟰
On this day, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗝𝗿. was awarded the 𝗡𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗹 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲 for his leadership in the Civil Rights Movement and his commitment to creating change through nonviolent action.

At 35, he became the 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 at the time. Dr. King accepted the award on behalf of the entire movement, honoring the collective effort toward equality and human dignity.

Libraries continue to preserve and share his powerful legacy through books, speeches, and historical resources.
