Incredible opportunity for our students in Junior High School! πβ€οΈ
Career and college planning doesnβt have to wait to start in high schoolβit starts with giving students opportunities to explore, discover, and begin imagining what their future could look like, and the skills and knowledge needed to make it happen!
This year, more than 4,400 Conroe ISD 7th graders are enrolled in General Employability, our introductory CTE course offered at all seven junior high campuses and taught by 35 teachers across the district!
Throughout the course, students build a foundation for the decisions theyβll make during junior high and high school. They explore career clusters and CTE opportunities through hands-on learning, investigate college and military pathways, learn about GPA, advanced credit options such as AP and Dual Credit, scholarships and financial aid, and develop important financial literacy skills.
But it doesnβt stop there! Students also practice the skills theyβll use throughout their livesβcommunication, teamwork, goal setting, time management, resumes, cover letters, interviewing, and understanding the workplace. Through career exploration and VR simulations, students can even get a hands-on look at careers and work environments that would be difficult to experience inside a traditional classroom.
Why start in 7th grade? Because the courses, programs, experiences, and opportunities students choose throughout junior high and high school can help shape what comes next. We want students to understand their options early so they can make informed choices, discover new possibilities, and build a plan that fits their goals.
Explore early. Discover your options. Build your plan. ππΌπ οΈ
