🚒 THIS is what collaboration looks like. ⚡️
Small-town fire departments and big corporations coming together with one goal in mind: keeping our firefighters, workers, and community safe.
On Saturday morning, our firefighters had the opportunity to train with Evergy staff on the new fire trailer designed specifically to help protect the men and women responding to an incident at the new power plant.
Evergy didn’t just build the trailer and send us on our way — they brought staff down to walk our firefighters through how to properly use the equipment and the specialized foam system designed for electrical fires. This hands-on training allows our firefighters to better understand the equipment and be prepared before an emergency ever happens.
It’s teamwork.
It’s preparation.
It’s safety.
It’s collaboration.
And it’s exactly what our community needs. ❤️
And before anyone starts wondering if it snowed on Spring Street Saturday morning… ❄️😂 — nope! That wasn’t snow. That was us putting the new fire trailer and specialized foam to work during training!
A huge thank you to Evergy for investing in the safety of their workers, our firefighters, and the surrounding community — and for taking the time to train alongside us.
Train together. Prepare together. Protect our community together. 🚒⚡️

🇺🇸 GOOD LUCK TO OUR MEMBERS TAKING ON THE 9/11 MEMORIAL STAIR CLIMB TODAY! 🇺🇸
Wishing our members who are participating in today’s 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb the best of luck! 💪🏼
While I won’t be there this year to climb alongside you and capture those moments behind the camera, I wanted to share a couple of pictures from the last climb we did.
The respect, dedication, and honor you all show by continuing to climb in memory of the 343 fallen firefighters is truly amazing. Every step is a reminder of the ultimate sacrifice they made, and the brotherhood that continues to carry their memory forward.
Thank you for showing up, remembering, and making sure the 343 are never forgotten.
Climb strong. Climb with purpose. Climb for the 343. 🥾🪜
🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET. 🇺🇸 Edit: thank you Katie Erker for getting pictures of this year!!! Added them below!!!

🚒💦 Training Last Night: Flow Testing Our New Rural Hydrants! 💦🚒
Last night our crew was out putting our new rural hydrants to the test! We conducted flow testing to make sure these hydrants are working properly and that we know exactly what kind of water supply we can expect when we need it most.
Rural firefighting comes with its own unique challenges, and having reliable water sources—and knowing their capabilities—can make a huge difference when seconds count. Testing these hydrants now helps ensure our firefighters are prepared to put them to work when the call comes in. 🔥🧑‍🚒
A big thank you to our firefighters for putting in the time and effort to stay trained, prepared, and ready to serve our community.
Train hard. Stay ready. Serve our community. ❤️‍🔥

🚒 A Huge Thank You to Our Firefighters! 🚒
We want to take a moment to recognize and thank the dedicated members of our department who have been volunteering even more of their already limited free time to make improvements around our station.
From upgrades and maintenance projects to tackling jobs that often go unnoticed, your hard work and commitment don't just make our station a better place—they help us better serve our community.
Being a volunteer firefighter doesn't end when the pager goes silent. The countless hours spent behind the scenes are a true testament to the pride you take in this department and the people we serve.
Thank you for your dedication, your teamwork, and your willingness to go above and beyond. We appreciate each and every one of you. Stay safe, and thank you for all you do! ❤️🚒

🚨 COMMUNITY WEATHER UPDATE 🚨
Slate Creek has flooded and is currently making highway 49 impassable north of town. Please use an alternative route to get to Wichita!

06/25/2026

🚨Alert!
Slate Creek has a flood warning issued for it from now till tomorrow mid-morning. It is going to crest at about 19'-20' they are predicting around midnight. Please be prepared to take alternate routes tomorrow morning. Don't drive through flooded waters.

🚨 COMMUNITY ALERT 🚨
With already elevated water levels from last night's storms and additional rainfall expected, we urge everyone to use extreme caution when traveling.
Do NOT attempt to drive through water-covered roadways, regardless of how shallow it may appear. Water levels can rise quickly, road surfaces may be washed away, and conditions can change in an instant.
No destination is worth risking your life—or the lives of first responders who may be called to rescue you.
Remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown®
Please stay alert, stay informed, and stay safe.

Unfortunately as much as the chief wishes he had a boat, our fire trucks do not identify as boats! 🛥️

If you find yourself in a situation you don't feel safe in, as always please call 9-1-1

🚒❤️ Happy Father's Day! ❤️🚒
Today, we want to recognize all the dads in our community and especially the fathers who serve our department.
Whether you're answering calls in the middle of the night, teaching life lessons at home, cheering from the sidelines, or leading by example every day, your dedication does not go unnoticed.
Thank you to the fathers who balance family, work, and service to others. Your strength, sacrifice, and commitment make a difference both in our department and in the lives of those you love.
From all of us at the fire department, we wish every dad a safe, happy, and well-deserved Father's Day.
🔥 To the dads who protect, provide, teach, and inspire — today we celebrate you. 🔥
