The Faulkner County Office of Emergency Management recently distributed coloring books and other community engagement materials to several fire departments around the county in an effort to assist them with their community engagement programming. The Faulkner County Fire Chiefs Association, Centerville Fire Department, and Liberty Fire Department were pleased to collect these materials to assist them in strengthening their community engagement efforts.

Being a firefighter is about more than responding to emergencies. It’s about serving our community in every way we can. Donating blood is another way to make a difference and potentially save lives.

Approaching Emergency Vehicles

Under Arkansas Code § 27-51-901, when a police car, fire engine, ambulance, or other authorized emergency vehicle approaches you with its lights and sirens on, you must:
• Immediately pull to the right-hand edge or curb of the road.
• Make sure you are clear of any intersection.
• Stop and remain stopped until the emergency vehicle has completely passed.
• Penalty: Failing to do so can result in a traffic ticket and a fine of up to $400.
