Knowing what to do should an earthquake occur is important because you won't get warning until the ground starts shaking.

WEEKEND WEATHER - HURRICANE ISAIAS INFLUENCE

Due to Hurricane Isaias making landfall along the northeastern Gulf Coast tonight, our area will see some wet weather this weekend due to the storm's influence.

This weekend features a King Tides cycle which will also influence tidal flooding.

The main points to be aware of are:
- Coastal flooding will be possible around high tide cycles. The graph below shows the current predictive heights for tides at the Springmaid Pier gauge. Saturday morning currently looks to have the highest tide this weekend.
- Heavy rain could occur, mainly Saturday night into Sunday. Some areas could experience localized flash flooding where the heaviest rain falls.
- There is a small threat for severe weather, including a low risk for tornadoes. Whenever any risk for severe weather is present, it is best to make sure you can receive emergency weather alerts.
- Marine and surf conditions will turn hazardous beginning this evening. There will be a high risk for rip currents this weekend as well.

Those in low-lying coastal areas that experience tidal flooding should remain aware of the tides this weekend. If a road is flooded, find a different route to be safe.

HCEMD will monitor the situation this weekend and share any updates as needed.
