CHS Asian Club: A Taste of Japan Through Onigiri

CHS Asian Club students enjoyed a special cultural experience during their 2nd meeting! We were honored to welcome Dr. Reed, a Japanese professor at UCA who was born and raised in Japan. Dr. Reed introduced students to onigiri, traditional Japanese rice balls, while sharing the fascinating history and cultural significance behind this beloved Japanese food. Students then rolled up their sleeves and had fun making their own onigiri! πŸ™

Often featured in Japanese anime and YouTube videos, onigiri is a simple, affordable, and delicious Japanese snack or light meal. Students were excited to bring something they had seen on screen to life through this fun, hands-on experience!

🌏 Sponsored by Mrs. Chen, CHS Mandarin Chinese teacher, the Asian Club provides students with exciting opportunities to explore and celebrate the rich diversity of Asian cultures through food and interactive activities.

πŸ”Ž What makes a good research question? Mrs. Pierce’s AP Seminar students tackled that question through a collaborative, hands-on workshop!

Thanks to the Science Department for sharing the third-floor hallway whiteboards! Students worked in groups to draft research questions, then used a checklist to provide constructive feedback to their classmates. With everyone up and moving, students shared insightful comments and helped one another refine their questions.

This collaborative activity strengthened students’ understanding of one of the most important first steps in the research process: developing a strong research question! πŸ’‘πŸ“š

β€οΈπŸ«€ Learning skills that can save lives!

Last week, our Foundations of Healthcare students put their learning into action as they practiced the skills needed to earn their CPR certification! 🩺

Students learned adult, child, and infant CPR, how to respond to choking emergencies, and other vital lifesaving skills.

These future healthcare professionals are building the knowledge, confidence, and hands on skills to step up when it matters most! β€οΈπŸ‘

πŸŒ΄πŸŽ‰ What an incredible day to be a Wampus Cat! Our 2026 Homecoming Assembly, A Night In Rio, brought energy, excitement, and plenty of Wampus Cat spirit to the floor!

From the presentation of the 2026 Homecoming Court and the parade of school clubs to performances by Step Team, Cheer, Dance, Student Council, Crunk Crew, Band, Orchestra, and Choir, the assembly was packed with entertainment! The senior football players and their moms brought their own special flair, while games and Student Council's Take Me To Rio skit kept the excitement going. Six Leg Media kicked things off with a fantastic video celebrating our athletes and helped bring the assembly to our community through a live stream.

A huge THANK YOU to Student Council sponsors Ms. Kordsmeier and Mr. Spiridigliozzi for their hard work in making this event happen, as well as all the teachers and staff who helped bring it all together. Special thanks to Six Leg Media for sharing their lighting and camera expertise to make the live stream possible for our community!

πŸ’™πŸ€ Now that's Wampus Cat spirit! 🐾
