Conyers Police Explorer Post 2222 The purpose of the program is to provide experiences to help young people mature and prepare them to become responsible, caring adults.

The call to join the world of law enforcement often begins at an early age. Through the Explorers post, the City of Conyers offers youth the opportunity to explore many aspects of community policing. Explorers gain valuable life experiences through activities that encourage citizenship and community involvement. Explorers receive training in a number of law enforcement areas, including traffic stops, self defense, handcuffing techniques, SWAT tactics and Georgia law. The Explorers also attend several competitions and an Explorer Police Academy in Montevallo, Alabama. The Explorers Post is open to youth ages 14-20. Explorers meet every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Conyers Police Department Courtroom. Meetings are highly interactive and last until 9:00 p.m. To sign up or learn more about Explorers, contact Sergeant Peggy Dunn at (678)- 374- 5603
