Thank you Eaat of Atlanta Home School students and parents for “paving the way” with colorful stepping stones to add to the pollinator garden. Now visitors can walk around and learn about plants and the tiny superheroes that keep the garden blooming!😍

Monroe Country Day School brought 40 young students to Big Haynes Creek Nature Center last week to explore the secret world of bats! The kids looked for clues to find spaces bats might live in and areas ideal for bats to hunt. It was a day of exploring and discovery - the kids peered in holes, climbed up trees and listened to stories filled with bat-astic adventures. They also decorated crafty bats that hung upside down while they learned many new fun facts about these amazing flying mammals. We enjoyed the kids’ curiosity and excitement, and look forward to their return.

🐾 30-Mile Dog Walk Challenge – November 2027

Get moving, explore the outdoors, and celebrate your four-legged best friend! Join Big Haynes Creek Nature Center for our 30-Mile Dog Walk Challenge. Walk a total of 30 miles with your pup throughout November, track your progress, and submit your completed mileage by November 30 to earn an exclusive 30-Mile Walk Challenge bandana for your dog!

Walk at your own pace, enjoy some fresh air, and make every mile count. One paw at a time!

Please email [email protected] to get a PDF tracking document. You can also track using your own fitness app or your own log. Be sure to email your completed log by Nov 30th to get your dog's prize, which you can pick up at the Georgia International Horse Park admin office Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm! 🐕

What a fun evening at Big Haynes Creek Nature Center!🦇

Georgia Department of Natural Resources - Georgia DNR Bat Biologist Trina Morris shared fascinating facts about Georgia’s night-flying mammals, introduced us to two bat education ambassadors, and then led us to the wetlands at dusk to listen and watch as six different bat species took flight—all identified using an echolocator!

Thank you to Trina and to everyone who joined us for a night of learning, wildlife and a little bat magic! 🌙🦇

Unleash your creativity at the water's edge in this immersive, outdoor ceramic painting session. Nestled directly within a scenic wetlands habitat, you will select and paint high-quality ceramic figures of native wildlife, including otters, frogs, and turtles. Surrounded by the sights and sounds of the real marsh, an expert instructor from the The Sketching Pad will guide you through specialized glazing techniques, color blending, and fine-detail brushwork to bring your sculpture to life. All materials included!
