Celebrating 100 Years of Winnie the Pooh!🐻

What a wonderful time we had celebrating Winnie the Pooh’s 100th birthday at the Putnam County Library! From tasting honey and playing games to watching a Winnie the Pooh movie, our celebration was filled with fun, laughter, and excitement!

But this celebration was about more than just a birthday. It was about bringing generations together through a character who has been part of childhood memories for 100 years. For some, Winnie the Pooh is a beloved childhood favorite, while for others, the stories are just beginning.

That's what makes libraries so special. We create spaces where families can come together, share experiences, and introduce a new generation to the stories they grew up loving. Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us and helped make this event so memorable! 💛

A Big Thank You to L.B.J. & C. Head Start💙

Thank you to L.B.J. & C. Head Start for inviting us to share books and library resources with all the wonderful children and families!

We believe that every child deserves access to books and the opportunity to develop a love of reading. That's why outreach opportunities like this mean so much to us. Bringing books directly to families helps us reach beyond the library walls and remind our community that the library is here for everyone.

The best part? Every single book we brought found a new home! Knowing that those books are now in the hands of children who can read, learn, and explore new stories makes it all worthwhile.

Thank you again for allowing us to be part of your event. We're always grateful for opportunities to connect with families and make reading more accessible throughout our community!

Behind Every Great Library Are Great Friends!💫

Every time you walk into the Putnam County Library, chances are you're seeing or experiencing something made possible by the Putnam County Friends of the Library!

In celebration of National Friends of Libraries Week, we want to highlight just a few of the many ways our Friends make a difference.

-Library Expansion: Supporting improvements that will create more opportunities for learning, creativity, and accessibility.

-Summer Reading: Funding programs that inspire children to read, explore, and continue learning throughout the summer.

-Chair Yoga: Sponsoring programs that encourage wellness and community connections.

-Library Decorations: Helping create welcoming and inviting spaces for everyone.

-Staff Appreciation: Providing meals and showing appreciation for the employees who serve our community.

The photos we're sharing are just a few examples of the many things our Friends have helped fund and make possible! Their contributions reach far beyond what you see in these pictures.

Their support helps us provide meaningful experiences, valuable resources, and opportunities that directly benefit our community. The next time you visit our library, take a moment to recognize the impact our Friends have made. Whether you're attending a program, enjoying our spaces, or watching our library grow, their generosity is all around you. 😀

Please join us in thanking the Putnam County Library Friends for everything they do to help our library and community thrive!

Paws, Pages, and Adorable Costumes!

We had a PAW-some time at our Pages & Paws program! 🐾 We absolutely loved seeing Buddy, Skye, and Tibbi dressed up in their adorable outfits! They certainly stole the show and brought plenty of smiles to everyone's faces!

But Pages & Paws is about more than just spending time with our furry friends! This program helps introduce young children to the joy of reading while creating a welcoming environment where they can build confidence, practice listening skills, and develop positive connections with books and animals. A huge thank you to our wonderful therapy dogs and their handlers for making this program so special! We love seeing the excitement and happiness they bring to our youngest library visitors.

Because sometimes, the best reading buddies have four paws and a wagging tail! 💙

An Amazing Lunch & Learn: Organizing with ADHD!

We had a wonderful and insightful Lunch & Learn with Beth Ruck, who shared practical tips and strategies for organizing your home while living with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)! One of the important takeaways from this program was understanding that organization is not one-size-fits-all. What works for one person may not work for another, especially for individuals with ADHD. Finding organizational methods that fit your needs can make everyday tasks feel less overwhelming and more manageable.

Why does this matter? ADHD can affect how individuals manage their time, maintain routines, and organize their surroundings. Learning about these challenges helps us build greater understanding, reduce misconceptions, and recognize that sometimes a different approach can make all the difference. A huge thank you to Beth Ruck for sharing her knowledge and helping our community better understand ADHD and the importance of creating systems that work for each individual!

At the Putnam County Library, we believe programs like these are important because they encourage understanding, provide practical knowledge, and remind us that learning can positively impact our everyday lives.

Celebrating National Friends of Libraries Week!

This week is National Friends of Libraries Week, and we couldn't let it pass without recognizing TWO incredible groups that help make our library system what it is today!

Behind every great library is a group of dedicated people who believe in its mission, and we are incredibly fortunate to have TWO amazing Friends groups supporting our library system!

A HUGE thank you to the Putnam County Library Friends and the Friends of the Monterey Branch Library for always being the backbone of our library system!

Whether it's supporting programs, helping with special events, fundraising, or stepping up whenever there's a need, our Friends groups are always willing to lend a helping hand. Their generosity, dedication, and commitment make a difference not only for our libraries but also for the communities we serve. Libraries are more than just books and buildings. They are places where people come together to learn, connect, and grow. Our Friends groups help make that possible!

We want both groups to know that your hard work NEVER goes unnoticed. We see it, we appreciate it, and we are truly grateful for everything you do! Thank you for being our biggest supporters, our helping hands, and an essential part of our library family! 💙
