Today, we pause to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

A day marked by unimaginable tragedy became a moment that brought together a city, a nation, and countless brave men and women who answered the call without hesitation. Firefighters, police officers, paramedics, and countless civilians came together to do what was in their blood — to help, to serve, and to save others.

Many of those heroes were on duty. Many were off shift. But when their city needed them, they came running.

Hundreds of brave men and women never made it home to kiss their babies goodnight, hold their loved ones, or walk through their front doors again. Their courage, sacrifice, and willingness to put others before themselves will never be forgotten.
Today, every firefighter across this country reflects on the brothers and sisters who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We remember their names.

We remember their families.

We remember their courage.

We remember their sacrifice.

Today is for our fallen brothers and sisters.
