Official Statement Regarding the Northeast Regional Library Fiscal Year 2027 Budget

Due to the ongoing increase in operating expenses and the rising costs associated with maintaining library services, a reduction in operating hours has become necessary.

While expenses related to essential services, staffing, materials, and daily operations continue to grow, funding from each of the counties in the Northeast Regional Library System has not increased sufficiently to offset these costs.

We understand that changes to library hours may be an adjustment for our patrons, and this decision was not made lightly. The affected branches are Burnsville, Baldwyn, Iuka, and Rienzi.

Our primary aim is to ensure the libraries can continue providing quality services and resources to the community in a financially responsible and sustainable manner.

We remain dedicated to serving our community and will continually assess our operations and available resources to make the most effective use of the funding entrusted to us.
