Our partners, Lake Norman Kiwanis Club, support many families in the area with their yearly Thanksgiving Dinner Drive. Some of those families, are part of our Washam Family. If you feel called to support, please see these great upcoming events.

Huge thank you to all of our Washam Hawks and Washam Family for making me feel so appreciated today on Principal Appreciation Day! I have had friends in my office delivering these balloon friends, cards and treats all day. Our Washam Family is second to none. I love our wonderful school and all who make it special every day! Thank you Cornelius Police Department for the reminders to keep us and our kids safe. Some great tips for staying safe. Parents, please have these conversations with your kids. Remember drivers, heads up and slow down at crosswalks, especially those around schools.

Hi! My name is Lauren Wentz, and I’m so excited to join the JV Washam community! I previously taught at Cornelius Elementary as the Media Specialist and then on the 1st grade team. I am also finishing my Masters in Elementary Education this year. I grew up in Cornelius and went to CES, Bailey, and then Hough. Outside of school, I love spending time with family, baking, and spending time with my dog, Ingrid! I’m so grateful for the warm welcome and can’t wait to get to know the JV Washam community this year!

Something special is coming to J.V. Washam—a new school mail system! Thanks to our Science Lab and Mrs. Luther, we’ll be spreading kindness, encouragement, and positive vibes through handwritten letters to one another throughout the rest of the school year. We can’t wait to see the smiles these special deliveries bring! 💌

Exciting things are happening at J.V. Washam Elementary! Our new Student Council held its first meeting yesterday, beginning an opportunity for students to share their voices, develop leadership skills, and make a positive difference in our school community. We can’t wait to see how our student leaders help our Hawks soar! 💙💛
