URGENT: Cortland’s children need your help! The proposed 2027 Cortland County Budget abolishes the entire Child Advocacy Center staff as of December 31, 2027, with NO plan for how child victims will be served. This puts our most vulnerable at serious risk.
Please write to your legislators today and urge them to reconsider eliminating these critical positions. Or, make your voice heard in person at the Legislative Meeting on Thursday, 10/22/26, at 6pm in the County Office Building Chambers. Your support can make a real difference!
The CAC’s impact is clear and growing. In 2015, CAC served 149 child victims. By 2025, that number had increased to 249 children—an increase of over 60% in 10 years.
CAC’s grant funding has increased by only 30% over the past 10 years requiring approximately $60,000 in the County’s 2027 Budget.
The question is not whether Cortland County can afford to maintain these services, but whether we can afford the consequences of losing them.
