🚒 A new addition to the fleet!

Our new Corvallis Rural Fire Protection District Super Single Type 3 wildland engine will be in the bay tonight! A couple of our firefighters completed its final inspection in Southern Oregon today. Striping and a few finishing touches remain, but we couldn’t wait to share these photos.

Together with the District’s recent wildland engine and water tender purchases, this apparatus strengthens our ability to protect homes, fields, and forests throughout our community.

Thank you to the CRFPD Board for investing in our firefighters and the equipment they need to serve our community for years to come!

Climbing the Mountain a Final Time! 🏔️

Every CFD recruit academy faces the same challenge: completing 414 training tower laps, the equivalent of climbing Mount Everest. For Division Chief of Training Shawn Morgan, this was his final 414 alongside his last recruit class before retiring at the end of the year.

Battalion Chief Yencopal also completed the climb. Chief Morgan shared: “It was an honor to have him part of my last. Thank you for leading, Yench… much love.”

It’s a tradition that reflects what we value at Corvallis Fire: training hard, staying fit, and preparing to be extraordinary on an ordinary day. Chief Morgan has reinforced those expectations by working alongside our recruits and making the climb a final time.

Congratulations to this academy class and to Chiefs Morgan and Yencopal on reaching the top!

A look inside last week’s Volunteer Firefighter Academy.

From hose and ladder work to training in full gear, these volunteers showed up ready to learn, work hard, and support one another. The photos capture the demanding moments, the coaching, and the camaraderie that make an academy more than a series of drills.

Thank you to every volunteer who committed their time and to the instructors and staff who invested in them. We’re proud to have you on the team.

One Team, One Mission. 🚒

This is what a Culture of Training looks like 💪💯

There was a lot happening at CFD’s training grounds today. Our career firefighter academy worked on rope rescue, our newest volunteer firefighters (turnouts) threw ladders and pulled hose, and crews from Stations 1 and 3 completed driver training, all at the same time.

At first glance, it may have looked a little like ants on an anthill. But what you're really seeing is firefighters at every stage of their careers learning, practicing, teaching, and getting better together.

At CFD, training isn’t something that ends when an academy is over. It is part of who we are.

Paid and volunteer. Recruit and veteran.

One Team, One Mission.

Hold your horses! We had a special visitor at Stonybrook! 🐴🚑

Secret Halo was visiting residents with her owner, Suzy, earlier this week when one of our medic units pulled up. Naturally, Secret stopped to check out the other kind of horsepower parked out front.

Thank you, Suzy, for sharing this great photo with us!

We’re saddling up and riding into the weekend! Have a safe one, Corvallis, and Go Beavs! 🧡🖤

Welcome to Corvallis Fire & Rescue! 🚒

On August 17th, CFD welcomed nine new career Firefighters to the team.

Our newest firefighters are hard at work in their 16-week recruit academy, beginning the training that will prepare them to serve the Corvallis community.

Over the coming weeks, they’ll be challenged physically and mentally while learning the skills, teamwork, and expectations that come with serving as a Corvallis firefighter.

We’re excited to have them on the team and look forward to watching them grow throughout the academy.

Welcome aboard!

Courage • Honor • Commitment • Teamwork

25 years ago, FDNY firefighters sat down together as a crew - having breakfast, doing rig checks, giving updates on family life... just another normal day in the fire house. The same thing we did this very morning. 25 years ago, those firefighters were called for service and 343 of them did not return.
Today is an opportunity to be thankful for health, for our loved ones and for our everyday routines. We remember 2,977 victims killed in the 9/11 attacks and are mindful of the countless survivors still suffering from 9/11 related illnesses.
Take a moment to reflect and honor all affected. Where were you when you heard this tragic news? We stand strong together. We will never forget.

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage and sacrifice of the first responders and everyday citizens who stepped forward in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We are honored to join the Corvallis Fire Department in their September 11 remembrance display today. We thank our partners at CFD for creating this meaningful tribute and for inviting us to stand alongside them as we remember those who lost their lives and honor all who answered the call to serve.

We will never forget.

Earlier this week, Corvallis and Monroe Fire departments responded to a fire in the Greenberry area on Highway 99. During the response, multiple private vehicles disregarded posted "Road Closed" signage and cones, driving through an active fire scene rather than following the marked detour.

We are issuing this announcement to address a serious public safety concern.

When a roadway is closed at an emergency scene, our personnel operate on the assumption that the road is clear of traffic. Firefighters position apparatus, deploy hose lines across the pavement, and concentrate on containing the fire. Vehicles entering a closed area unexpectedly place both our responders and the drivers themselves at significant risk, injury and/or death.

The danger is compounded near an active fire, where conditions can change rapidly. Reduced visibility from smoke, flames crossing the roadway, downed power lines, debris, and the movement of emergency vehicles all create hazards that motorists may not anticipate.

Beyond the safety risk, driving around a road closure is a traffic violation. Under Oregon law (ORS 811.265), failure to obey a traffic control device which can include barricades, signs, and cone setups is a Class B traffic violation. In Oregon, that carries a presumptive fine of $265, with fines ranging from a minimum of $135 up to a maximum of $1,000.

Road closures are never established for convenience. They are put in place because, during that period, the roadway is not safe. We reopen every road as quickly as conditions allow.

We ask the public to treat all "Road Closed" signs, cones, and barricades as absolute. Do not drive around them. Follow posted detours, even when they add time to your route.

We appreciate the community's cooperation in helping keep both residents and first responders safe.
